People who don't write sendmail.cf files in their sleep are morons and not worth the oxygen they greedily leech from the air.
[Windows XP is] pretty damn stable from my opinion and it's a very good GENERAL PURPOSE operating system. Note what I said: GENERAL PURPOSE. Meaning, you don't have to spend hours and hours configuring...
You have no clue what you're saying. Configuring X, today, takes little more than installing a new video card for Windows. Pick your resolution, and your color depth. This is in advanced setup, as well. I'm sure if one did a basic setup it would detect, configure, and install X just as well as WindowsXP does with its GUI.
Remember guys, most people out there aren't Slashdot geeks.
Uh huh. Most people can't type in a user name and password? Most people can't put a CD in and click "easy install"? I can see your point now....
And before you go on calling me a moron, I'm using Linux to write this message. I prefer Linux for development because it's more flexible.
Oh goodie! So you'll be asking me how to exit vi or emacs, or whatever the hell you're using to program in 5 minutes because you've fscked up.
Seriously. Who cares if your using Linux to post it? Use Linux, Windows, OS/2, BeOS, PalmOS, or just tap the end of your phone cord with a 9V battery, if you really want to be l33t.

Movies are so real. I don't know why you people allow yourselves to be fooled. Hollywood is actually a secret government agency involved with the documentation of history.
Bet you don't belive the White House was destroyed and Will Smith saved us all from alien scum either, huh?
Then don't use GPL code you stupid fuck. If you want to take my stuff, you better give me your stuff in return. If you don't want to give me your stuff, you should write the whole thing yourself because you are obviously exteremly l33t, or self-delusional.
If, as others have pointed out, you actually read the transcript [microsoft.com], you'll see that he does indeed know the difference between an OS and a GUI.
That would destroy our "holier-than-thou" attitud, though. We can't have that. I won't stand for it! I won't have it!
It also becomes clear, that the Microsoft strategy is simply to confuse the court, since it is undoubtedly not clear to the judge, what exactly is kernel, application, middleware, etc. All MS wants to do is muddy the waters so much that the judge will be over-cautious.
Although this is not the complete list, there are agreed upon meanings for these terms, such as "middlware", defined here in the Court's Findings of Fact [html], in section 'A-6', paragraph 28 and 29. I understand that this doesn't completely invalidate your argument, but it does show that all parties (Microsoft, the States, and Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly) are all "on the same page", at least in theory.
No, it doesn't beg any question. It, perhaps, "begs one to ask the question", but it certainly doesn't "beg the question." Why are you trying to sound like a stuck up snob anyway?
"I don't know why Hemos is running outlook. Outlook's security model sucks because it's full of holes" is getting closer to begging the question.
Just go easier [to]... Send spam! Exchange child porn with your buddies. Send each other virus alerts for things that don't exist. Capture your credit card without even logging in to your account.
Right. I was speaking specifically of the software that says something to the effect of:
By downloading this software you accept the following terms of _license_.
Where license is a hypertext link to the EULA, and the license is not presented during the install.
This is why you don't have to accept the GPL to use software covered by it. Since it is often only included as a file it isn't binding. Of course, since it only allows you to do things you wouldn't otherwise be able to do under Title 17 of the US Code, it doesn't matter.
The difference is that the courts have ruled (don't make me find the case #) that click-thru agreements don't carry much weight unless the user is presented with the EULA.
I think a better solution would be to have a uniform license stating the maximum restrictions you can place on a program. You don't have to use them all, but you can't add any (and have them enforcable). I'm sure this exists in other areas. (ie: I can't insist that you leave your children when you sell me your house.) This way, if Microsoft or Apple, or whoever, wanted, they still couldn't say, "You can't use this program and drink beer because we think wine is far superior", or something stupid like that.
I love it when I'm right and, because they can't point out any errors in my arguments, they say that I'm a "little boy" and leave "grown up land" to the rest of us.
Um, no. Not everyone has to play games on a computer to make it through the day. There are plenty of games for Linux, and even more for the Gamecube, PS2, etc...
Just because you want to delude yourself into thinking that *we're* the problem. Go back to your Microsoft FUDing. It's easier than trying to tell the "truth".
No, read the script. It just removes the EULA text. The box still comes up, but is empty. You click "accept" and in doing so "accept" absolutely nothing.
No, my friend. We "zealots" are just more enlightened. It isn't that we want to chastize you, but how else can we lead you from the path of darkness and evil to that of good? Like the Inqusition of days gone by, drastic times call for drastic action.
The world is full of people who would like you to believe that software is just a bunch of bits. The rights to use it bought for the time it took to compile that functionality. That is completely false! Software, like air, should be free and available to anyone who would like it. It should be easily changed and developed so that the software in use today can easily be changed to solve the problems you will face tomorrow. This is simply not possible with propritary software.
Would you think of shooting a child with a double barreled shotgun? Of course not. Why then do you destroy your computer with closed source poision that you download from the filth of the Internet. The Internet isn't entirely bad, but there are bad people out there. People who want you to turn away from your morals. People who cry out for you to download censored pr0n from paysites, shoot you babbies, and use the Windows operating system on your computers. Don't give in! Save yourself! Save humanity! Don't give in to the temptation!
So you see, it isn't us whom you should fear. You should fear those around you. Anyone who isn't supporting free software is trying to murder your child! Stand up for yourself and the future by not giving in. Tell those corportate fat cats that you can not, will not give in to their money hungry ways! Download a linux ISO and install it on all of your computers! You can do that! No need to register! No need to pay!
Join All Software Specialists are Honorable, Obidient, Law-abaiding Evangelists! As an ASSHOLE, you will fight to support the future! You will become the future! Tell Microsoft to stop raping our mothers and stuffing them up our chimneys! I urge you all to become a member of our group, stand on the corner, outside your local software shop, and proclaim to the world that you are an ASSHOLE and you're tired off all the shit that companies try to put through you!
Everyone knows that Linux is free and far superior to any piece of crap OS out there. Take a look at security focus. Look at all the worms and holes in Windows XP and 2000. "Trustworthy Computing" my ass. The only thing you can trust Microsloth to do is take your money and give you an inferior product.
In fact, not only will Linux run better on the same hardware as Windows, you can even run Windows programs with more stability and, via SMB, interconnect Linux and any Windows boxes you have, better than a native windows box. To top it all off, if you don't have the money to upgrade every other day, like you need to do to even think about running xp, you can still run a great Linux server on a 386! Try that with any current version of Microshits winderz.
In conclusion, though the trolls and fud spouts at Microsauce want you to think contrary, Linux is the most powerful, user friendly OS available, and is available with the full source. Don't trust the corporate fat cats with your data! Don't let them share your sensitive info with the government (nsa_key)! Don't fall victim to their ploys! Be free! FREE!!!

This isn't flame bait, it's a troll. Get it right luserz!
That was funny as hell!
Be free! FREE!!!
And it would have been moded up as +5; Funny, since everyone knows Bill Gates is evil and Linux is the only OS worth anything.
