A new series could survive, just not on a major network. However, another terrible movie could really hurt the franchise. Unless the next Star Trek movie gets great reviews I'm going to have to skip it.
Makes me wonder if people will look back hundreds of years from now and wonder... 'What the hell were they thinking writing in that horrible format?' Kinda like I do now with some of the weird medieval writing styles. I wonder if English teachers ever reflect on sort of things before they make their students write yet another essay.
Porn is always at the cutting edge of every media. Quite a bit of the spam is for porn so it is no suprise to see spammers adopt a standard before most everyone else.
If IP law continues the way it is Free Software will be the only alternative for consumers. Businesses are treating their customers like criminals and these customers will only take it for so long. People are becoming aware of the draconian approach to IP and they are beginning to reject it in favor of more open solutions.
I'm only two weeks into my "Computer Architecture" class so I could use some clarification. Why does it matter which processor processes what? It's all bits, right? Why can't you process any data on either your CPU or your GPU? I counting on the folks here at/. to help me out here so that I don't have to open my text book!
In January 1993, John Carmack sent a press release announcing a "technical revolution in PC programming" on 386sx processors - a real-time, 256 color 3D game that let you play simultaneously with three other people. Doom was born and the desktop video game industry took off creating an impetus that pushed video and stream processors to the point they are today. Here's to you John Carmack! The repurposing of a GPU for digital audio processing would not be possible without your passion and influence.

Won't a mini-reactor have mini-waste. Is a small amount of waste manageable?

Sounds like a great idea. Gives the DOE (or someone else) 30 years to figure out what to do with the things once they become unstable. Considering how dependant the world is on energy, and how fast we are draining our resources, and the relatively small number of accidents to date, I don't see what the huge controversy over nuclear energy is.
They are making us wait longer for the extended edition DVD than the regular DVD. I doubt that is because it isn't ready. They would just like to sell some people both versions. I fell for it with the first one, but not the second or third.;)
Couldn't they get together and create one super-plugin? I am sure most of the slashdot crowd wouldn't be interested in using it because most of us prefer finer control but it would be great for the average user who doesn't want to worry about plugins and just wants to browse the web and have everything work.

...or for something more closely approaching the original link, the most recent internet archive of the /.ed site. Unfortunately it looks like most of the images were not archived. :(
Well, since the mentioned site is slashdotted try this one instead for some aerial kite photography.

Screenshots anyone?
Every currently known security flaw would be a good start. Eh?

Well, just wait 'til Longhorn. It will be way better...in like 12 years, or maybe 14...

Wow! Thanks for all the responses!

Looks like the Japanese are on it also.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. beta.music.msn.com makes no mention of Napster...
What's with the Napster logo?
that has been up for months...
This has to be a first. Slashdotted a country!
BTW, anyone want a non-extended edition FOTR? ;)

Whichever ones show up for free on slickdeals.
