Exactly this. I despise Apple but they are doing security correctly. At most it's a week or two to fix serious security issues (witness the latest FaceTime bug), with the update available immediately upon release.
With Android, fixes take between months and never. It is astonishing that all these years later, Android is still carrier and/or manufacturer dependant for updates.
Also the battery shit show happened immediately upon installing iOS 11.0 while all the betas exhibited no such behavior.
Cook thought they could get away with it. They were wrong. Now Apple sales are plummeting because everyone just got new batteries instead of new phones.
Apple was refusing to replace batteries. Users, including myself, brought in phones that lasted 4 hours max and were told the batteries were "fine." Massive suits against Apple, threatening to expose their internal communications, forced Apple to offer battery replacements to anyone that wanted them, in return for the suits being dropped.
Good for this firm, otherwise I'd be shelling out an extra $1200 a year just to have an iPhone that wasn't purposefully burning out my battery and artificially slowed to molasses to force me to upgrade. Fuck you Tim Cook.
Because of all the taxes I pay so everyone can have free phones, food, rent, medical care, iPads and internet access, I really can't afford to pay for internet any more. Can you tax all the people you give all my tax money to, to pay for my internet too? Please?
Google could require that manufactures subscribe to some sort of security update model as a requirement before using android software. By not doing this, Google is opening itself up to tremendous liability should something bad ever happen. You may not think so, but some jury someday may think differently. I know of what I speak, though I would prefer not to give full disclosure.
And I just go chugging along in OS X, hope for the best and only dual boot over to Win7 when I need to do specific work stuff, and then get the hell out of there.
Microsoft has always been a douchebag.
Apple may be as bad, but at least they're not so in my face about it.
Born too late to conquer the Americas.
BTW, what round for dinosaur?
They are trying to keep their people from being wiped out by the evil sick fucks currently running the planet.
Sticking a stupid comm satellite in the air isn't even worthy of consideration against the ongoing concerted effort to erase the English.
I suspect Apple will do some interesting design experiments with this process. If I were Cook Iâ(TM)d have some of my people at this lab already.
Bitcoin bugs want to know.
Was not disappointed.

lol you're kidding right. Science only applies to white men, and only when it makes them look bad.
Only 80 billion dollars in the months?
It's over.
The longer they're able to keep screwing up EVERYTHING, the worse off earth will be.
Hopefully the carriers will have expensive solutions to offer consumers to do what was previously inexpensive.
lol competitor lol
enjoy the dry oligopolistic ass rape
You mean the iPad? I assure you it is not sub GHz.

obviously you havenâ(TM)t been paying attention to iPhone pricing

No.
Wow, really?
Talk about a bad idea!

No thanks. I'd prefer my phone have an occasional chance of picking up a signal instead.

You are my spirit brother.
Oh I logged in hoping I had some mod points to bump you up but it seems like us old guys don't get mod points any more. Hilarious though.
Yup.
