I have the 4th Gen iPod and *no* I don't like my wheelmouse-click, that is the most annoying thing in my iPod, it broke after 3 days with just a few drop of water on it and I'm struggling to get it repair from Apple right now, no refund, Final sales, if I call back for tech support Apple will charge me money and Apple doesn't ship me the return box (their India's tech support didn't know where Montreal was and I bet they didn't understood properly my address). Worst tech experience ever:(
I owned the 1th Gen iPod with just a regular wheelmouse-no-click and it was much more responsive (and no I don't have fat fingers lol) and lasted 21 months even if I drop water on it. I really like that one.
I don't mean to flamebait Apple, but, please, small buttons has been used for years and has been working just fine even with water!
I don't know about Linksys but there should be an option on how to erase the corrupted firmware. On a D-Link router you just insert a paperclip into the reset hole, take out the power adapter and insert it back again, then take out the paper clip, do this real slow and log onto the router. It won't ask for a username/password and you will only have 1 page to update the firmware, everything would have been erased. These devices are really hard to kill completely.
Seems those Hard Disk / RAID solutions are the best thing so far, but too pricey if it's for a SOHO. If it's for a business, it's just the perfect way to go.
As for me, since it's for personal data, I'll stick to CD. In fact, I'm now with DVD, and DualLayer DVD's are just around the corner, can't wait to switch again. Total Cost of all this switch? Not even a thousand bucks, including media and cd-rom drives and I have my terabyte of data. Not bad.
Yup, the label side has less protection than the data side. Always put your cd on the data side, you'll need a bigger dent in it to make that CD unreadable versus the label side.
After hours of searching for macros I can say this is something missing in linux, yes the command line is very efficient but sometimes you do want to automate things that cannot be done with a command line.
I found xnee which is an X macro recorder/player, use both keyboard and the mouse. It isn't perfect, but with some tweakings it can do a lot of stuff. As far as I know, I'm still waiting for their GUI so for now you'll have to use it on the command line only.
One advice, if you use xnee, don't change your widgets or fonts, if you record a macro to press a button and you change the way this button is displayed, for example it is smaller, then xnee won't be able to click on it.
I'm in the same/exact position as you. Got that iPod which is just dying day after day, the buttons are starting to jammed, the menu button doesn't work all the time, have to press it hard to work, sometimes I can't change the volume, even though I turn the wheel it doesn't do anything plus sometimes it just crash and I have to reboot it then I lost the time on it. Don't forget that the battery is dying too with the hard disk (average lifetime of an hard disk is about 5 years).
I really think a DVD mp3 player as a discman could kill all competition of a hard drive mp3 player.
And what about this new technology for the HD DVD supposing to be out early 2005, a 15 gigs DVD, if you could use that in a DVD mp3 player in a 100$ mp3 player, that would just be awesome. Hell, I could even pay 300$ for it on a 20% interest rate:-)
Yes the line between reality and virtuality is always shrinking (See Serial Experiment Lain for proof). For now we are only able to see some geographic views of location in Iraq.
Maybe someone'll develop a tiny java application to control a tank or something right in the middle of the war? It is so tempting when looking at the war on TV, it's so close to us ! ^_^..
Kidding aside, I hope this war will finish soon and there won't much deaths!)
PLUR !
I do like the idea, but not right now as there is a war, here in Quebec, between my ISP and their employees, results of this are some fiber optics that has been cutted and I was connected to them. So I know what it's like to loose a server and what it's telling you.. and what you feel after.
On the other hand, I keep thinking about this after seeing this movie that we might feel more secure if these systems can log when they saw you and in doing so, whatever happens to you, we could know where you were last time, like helping the cops to track you. Or imagine you lost your kids or your little brother in a big mall, this will proove very usefull.
I really think it would provide a feeling of security.
I am wondering if Spielberg has been paid for adding all these commercial in Minority Report or did he add them by his own without asking the company. Because he could have made big bucks in asking the company to add his commercials!
install it on your Linux Server at home and access it from the job. Easy enough.
We'll be able now to install Gentoo in just a few days !

This is easy, I got DDR here at home, setting it up is simple :
:-)
1) buy DDR Pads from ebay, its really cheap, take the 1 inch foam pads, they are the best. (about 50$)
2) www.liksang.com offers psx to usb adapters, just buy 2 (about 30$ for 2)
3) get www.stepmania.com with some DDR songs (free)
And you're ready to rock! You can even do double
Why not just using openoffice spreadsheet for it ? I mean, if it's just for home, it's all good.
If it would be for a business, a little mysql database with php would still be real simple to implement.

First the Ark of Noa's and then Atlantis? What's next? The secret life of Chickenfoot?

But just who's going to buy a mini-ipod of 4GB for 249$ when for 299$ you have a 10 GB ?
Because of the color ? This is so ridiculous. A mini-ipod should be sold 159$ !
And were's our DVD discman as each DVD can hold a 5GB ?!?

There's spam on MSN/Hotmail ? Just what are you talking about? I'll show you, just lemme open my old account... ...omg
They do have a logical reason in the LATEST UPDATES section.
And they do have a philosophic one.
