My switch to Linux was decided when I accidentally mistyped a url into my web browser while running Win2K and was instantly pwnd. I was dual booting at the time and I decided that Linux needed to be my daily driver to avoid being so easily attacked.
To be fair, every time he tries to close Guantanamo (or even transfer prisoners out), congress prevents it. I am disappointed in his follow-through, but I don't think you can blame the last one on him.
I run Linux on 3 desktops (2 home, 1 work), and I don't have any hardware problems. I also have Linux installed on my work laptop (Dell something or other) and everything works perfectly. I haven't had to give anything up or even work hard at getting any hardware functional. A few years ago, I would have somewhat agreed with your assessment, but not today.
The owners manual in my car suggest changing the oil every 7,500 miles. Modern oils and modern engines are much better than the ones that the 3000 mile guidelines developed from. You can "check your number" at the calrecycle web site to see the vehicle manufacturer recommendations.
Did you read any of the other articles in the summary? How about this:
According to the Dignity in Schools campaign, "students of color... are more likely to be suspended and expelled than their peers for the same behavior" and "African American students [are] 3.5 times as likely to be expelled" as whites.
It seems that there IS a racial discrepancy. Should we just ignore it and hope it goes away?
I don't care about RDP either, but have you ever used NX/X2Go instead of straight X forwarding? I find it is much faster and usable even over slow(ish) connections.
The second part is entirely untrue. If you grew up in the 70's and 80's you would remember that a car owner would feel lucky to get 100,000 miles out of a car. Now, if you don't get at least that many miles, you bought a lemon. Better manufacturing techniques are part of it, of course, but no small part of the increased reliability is computer controlled combustion.
Do you know anyone who uses Straight Talk? I'm out of contract in January 2014 and I'm contemplating buying the newest Nexus phone at that time and switching to Straight Talk. I worry about running over the "secret" 2GB data cap and getting cut off. There is good AT&T coverage where I live and work, so I was planning on buying an AT&T sim from ST.

I will buy instantly a blu-ray version of the ORIGINAL Star Wars trilogy that doesn't have any of Lucas's ham fisted changes.

There are only two hard things in Computer Science: cache invalidation, naming things, and off-by-one errors.
I'm saddened by this story, but not shocked. The fact that I'm not shocked makes me even more sad.
Nipped it in the BUD. And you used it incorrectly. It means, "to put an end to something before it develops into something larger."

Wasn't his oath ultimately to uphold the constitution of the United States?

I think you are confusing/conflating the terms patent and copyright. As for being targeted via IP address, just use a VPN. It's not rocket surgery.
Am I mistaken or does this mRemote application store passwords in the clear? That's just plain nuts!
X2Go is also very good.

From your statement, you obviously haven't used NX/X2Go. Very fast even over slow connections.
I saw reporting on this on MSNBC (Rachel Maddow's show). I wasn't shocked, though; just disgusted.
I was going to say exactly this, but not as well and less politely. Kudos to you kind sir!
Nearly All States Received More Funding Than They Contributed in Highway Taxes Since 2005

Obligitory xkcd cartoon.
Thanks for the info! I imagine the XDA guys are pretty heavy data users, so that encourages me.
Then compile it out of the kernel in embedded applications. The kernels on those applications are all custom built anyway.

Right, but other than that, what have the Romans done for us?
