. . . has anyone been able to get a straight answer from their U.S. Senator as to how he or she would vote on the CBDTPA (or other anti-digital freedom legislation) if it came to a vote today?
My Senator, Jean Carnahan (D-MO), dodged the question with some flowery language about how she wanted "to encourage the adoption of broadband," which tells me she'd vote for it. (My letter was obviously opposed.)
I just sent an email asking the question point blank to Sen. Carnahan, and also to her Republican challeneger, Jim Talent.
It enables OSX to run on non-Apple hardware--and the author talks about creating a PPC emulator, which would enable it to run on non-PPC hardware, even.
Apple's EULA doesn't allow this, and their litiguous nature in other things leads me to believe they might come down on this project.

And if your looks are anything at all like your personality, we can be pretty sure they're not of you, since that would make you equally unappealing to attractive people of either sex.
By Microsoft's own recommendation, 100,000 users require 67 servers:
"Limit the number of concurrent connections (users) per node to a maximum of 1,500, and proactively monitor the cluster to ensure that the CPU does not exceed 40 percent (load generated from users) loading."

Concur. My experiences with the USPS have been marked by courtesy and competence--not to mention that dealing with the Post Office is heaven compared with dealing with UPS.
Similarly, when using a supermarket that requires cards to avoid a privacy surcharge (aka a discount for using the cars), liven up your shopping trip a little. If you're just picking up a whole chicken, add some whipped cream, a spatula, a box of condoms, a can of Crisco, and some peanut butter. Doing so will not only intrigue the checker, but help to confuse TPTB.
I damn well want you to be able to tell me who was sitting there...
Why? Is there established precedent that makes you personally or the library institutionally liable? Wouldn't your life be much simpler if you could tell them you honestly don't know?
How are forensic data collected from a RAM disk without compromising the integrity of the machine, chain-of-custody, and all that? There's no way to capture the contents of RAM without running a program on the machine, and doing that changes the contents of RAM.
BTW, if you don't do computer forensics for a living, I'm sure Richard Clarke has noted your subscription to that list.
I imagine the big finish lends a whole new meaning to the term "streaming media."
Got that covered.

It's like I've always said: Apple is just like Microsoft, except they're not as good at it.
Fucking disgrace, Cisco is. Their people should be on trial at the Hague for crimes against humanity for turning their talents in this direction.
