I think you just explained the thing I've been wondering: Why so many girls like it :)

So many girls like LOTR because Legolas and Aragorn are hot. Also because Eowyn is a badass. I just loved it when she took off her helmet, said "I am no man", and killed the Witch King.

Arabic (and Korean) already are supported in MS Office:mac. Which kind of rules out the it's-got-not-roman-characters excuse for MS.

One would think that the word Biography would have tipped you off to the fact that it was going to tell you what had happened to Gollum. Don't misunderstand me, I am sorry that the story was ruined for you. However, I can't help but feel that you brought it on yourself.

Now that sounds like my kind of woman!

I'd like to point out that comments like this are the reason that you, and others that posted similar comments, were probably lonely in high school and/or college. They also continue to be part of the reason that so few women are in CS.

I wasn't denying that women played FPS games, I was just saying that more men play them than women, so that on average men will get more practice in a virtual 3D world.

  6. Re:Idiotic conclusion on Women Need Larger Screens for Desktop Navigation? · · Score: 1

I agree. There are enough barriers to women in computing without pointing out more. It would be much more constructive and helpful to put this in terms of high versus low spatial ability. Even if a note is put in that most women have low spatial ability, less women will be driven away.

I'd say it also has to do with who plays more video games. I know that my male friends play a lot more FPS games than my female friends do.

More intriguing is the "un batteried" iron obelisk I recall hearing about in India--an iron monument that has resisted rusting for hundreds of years.

I think you mean in China. There is an obelisk of some type of iron or iron alloy in Beijing that doesn't rust.

    You gotta love lawyers.
But consider the alternative; if we don't keep lawyers busy they become politicians. *shudder*

Also you could release a few MP3s on the Amamzon site. They have a free downloads section in their music section. And because of the way they reference stuff you'd only have to get a few people to download it before it was getting linked to other items.

Computer code can be beautiful. Especially when you do something clever and the code functions correctly and is easy to read. That *is* aesthetically pleasing. Just because something is functional doesn't mean that it can't be beautiful.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all.
