of going back to dialup. If they do start capping download speeds, why spend twice as much per month for Cable/DSL when you can get half the bandwidth at half the cost with dialup services like EarthLink or NetZero?
But, do these *users* take into consideration you LOSE bytes just formatting the drive? We converted our ext3 filesystem to reiserfs on a 1.5 Tb RAID array. We gained over 130 gigs of extra storage just by changing filesystems.
And wtf, anybody else notice when formatting Windows that the installer always leaves an 8 megabyte free partition?
This is why there are so many frickin' laws on the books as it is. Somebody pissed off? Call a Congress person or Senator and make a law to prevent you from being pissed off.
Here's Bob. He's not pissed off, he is only fuming. He wants a law to prevent whatever it is that makes him fume. Calls his Senator and gets his law.
What's wrong with this? BOTH ARE THE SAME!! Its coming to a point where there will be a law for not picking your nose, or a law to not cut your fingernails in public.
Me, I still don't have cable. If you didn't either, those good programs would migrate to broadcast.
What planet are you on? The only reason cable offers completely different programs is because WE pay for the channels. With broadcast TV we have to watch what the TV execs think we should watch. Can you imagine Sopranos or Six Feet Under on broadcast? No way...
This is pure crapola. I remember this post from about a month ago. It was something like NetCraft but for hacked computers. It listed what computer OS, the URL, defacement, etc...
Anyway, whoever posted it didn't check the archives because I did and found that all months, I could only find a handful of Linux machines 'sploited. And all of these where 5.2 to 6.2 Redhat machines.
Where I work, we were approved for an NSF grant to improve on our in house Live CD distribution. We use it for Internet2 (among other things) so other researchers on campus can experience Internet2 and the Access Grid. In our case it was easier than manually setting up their windows installations. We give them a disc, tell them reboot and they are instantly connected to our AG Venue. Plus it has other cool features like rsync backups (included their Windows filesystems) if they want to.
Now we have some funds to further the distribution. I will tell this guy it DOES pay to make Open Source Software.
This is exactly what the Networking people are doing at my University. Still doing as a matter of fact. The computer in question is taken off the network until it is cleaned/patched/fix whatever and approved to be "infectious free." Oh and did I mention that if its a professors or laboratory computer their department is charged $500 to put the computer back on the network? And guess who ends up paying for it in the long run? Students...
So without a sticker or a label saying "This is bad for you" lawsuits should ensue when deep down common sense would tell you it IS bad for you?
[whistling while I walk down the hall] "Oh look Sulfuric Acid... hmmm wonder what it tastes like? Oh wait, there's a label but it doesn't say swallowing will kill, so it must be safe."
[whistling again] "Oh look a Class 3B laser. I wonder what it looks like inside while powered on. Look, no sticker or label that says looking into a laser beam will fry my eyeballs so it must be safe."
I don't care for any of the games today. Their "FUN" factor just isn't there. I remember the days of endless quarters playing games like 1942, Galaga and Moon Patrol. Now those were games.

Re - Tard
Put down the bong man..
Uh, call me stupid again, but how do you install Windows without installaing from CD?

Do not use laptop while nude or Mr. Pecker will get burned, like this d00d

Man, doesn't anybody get this besides me?

So when the next worm/virii hits its gonna piss little kiddies off that can't run their Sponge Bob video game.
I think I just saw CowboyNeal and Taco on the Jail Bookings link.

Man if I only lived in Japan. They have all the coolest stuff. I guess I'll stick with my Linux powered Freevo machine.
So if professor publishes this, its all fine and dandy, but when a citizen publishes an eBook hack he's arrested? What gives?

No no no. I take that back. He was wiping his arse with the NY Times.
McDonald's makes me fat so I'm gonne sue 'em. Tobacco makes me die so I'm gonna sue 'em. Well fricking DUH!
Whatever happened to common sense? Oh wait, its the lawyers, that's it.. yeah...
The seller cancelled my bid. I guess I'll just send it to the EFF instead.

And no "plop, plop, fizz, fizz"
This is just a reinvention of that damn paperclip.
I *thought* that 802.11a/g wasn't available in Linux as of this time. If this machine runs Debian, where's the drivers? And where can I download them?
Easy, stop paying for illegal immigrants every need. They can get a job just like the rest of us
