Hmmm... really? In a world without oil there would be other sources of oil. More than likely solar power would be the first means of power. But I could be wrong.

I watched another show on HGTV where a guy invested $800 in solar power kit (containing the panel, deep cycle battery, DC convertor, wires, etc..) for his outdoor shed. It was enough power to run several electrical tools like his drill, table saw and a couple lights.

It would have cost him double that to run electric to his shed.

So your saying nuclear and solar are both *clean* energy sources? In nuclear you still have massive amounts of waste products that we still can't get rid of. Solar power on the other hand is the only *clean* energy source.

  7. Modern Marvels from History Channel on Widespread Use of Hydrogen May Hurt Ozone Layer · · Score: 1
Last night had a great episode of the history of the engine. One thing I remember was in order to make hydrogen we still rely on fossil fuels, natural gas, coal or nuclear power.

All the technologies (except for Solar power) still rely on some sort of burning fuels to make fuel.

I just look at fiber as the means to transport all we are used to over wires, from cable TV to Internet. I hate having to dig up my carpet in my house to run Cat5 and coax to every room. Now if it was all fiber I could run one small wire to every room.

Why use this old technology when they can invest in newer technology like fiber to the house and/or Internet2 connectivity?

Only time will tell before this becomes the norm. I find it interesting that we GenX-ers are experiencing the same things that our parents did in their 40s and 50s when the economic boom of the Reagan years was in full swing. The norm then was to get rid of older employees and hire the youngest people, regardless if they were smarter.

You can't expect experience from a younger person when the older person has been around the block a few times. I'll hire the older people more often.

But face it, its cheaper to hire somebody than to give out pention checks every month!
