    A few corrections to your post:

    1. Space Above and Beyond ran for 1 season (24 episodes)
    2. The Babylon 5 production crew were the ones that revoutionised SciFi special effects arena
    (it had been running a FULL two years before SA&B). They showed EVERYONE that you
    could make an episode using computer graphics without the $1Million price tag that star trek
    espiodes cost then.

    Space Above and Beyond was merely following in Babylon 5's LARGE footsteps.

    The Liteon LDW811S is capable of burning 8x DVD+R.
    It is for sale a one shop here for AUD$315.00 (USD$227.00).
    The Plextor PX-708A is AUD$499.00 (USD$360.00).

    Plextor can claim "the first commercialized 8X DVD recorder" all they want, but
    the LiteOn is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper, and available at the same time.

    Most DVD-R's struggle to work reliably at 4x...

    I have burnt hundreds of DVD-Rs, and my Pioneer A06 has NEVER failed to finish writing.
    Nor has it written anything that is unreadible in a DVD Rom or (if necessary)
    standalone DVD Player).

    Most weblogs are written by people for their "internet friends". Maybe YOU use your weblog for telling people that are related to you about your life. But most people are telling people they don't know (other than on the internet) shit that is not interesting to anyone but the person.

    I do not EXPECT the casual reader to care, so you would find it odd if I did.

    Blogs are better because they give what people care about -- your opinions and knowledge -- without the self-advertising.

    Most blogs have entries like "I saw Timmy last night. We talked about, you know, that thing
    we did. I was really upset... bla bla fucking bla".

    IMHO Blogs are the almost sole domain of the self-absorbed and emotionally immature.

    I work in a design office where most people use Mac OS 10.2. I swear to God, now matter how many times I show people virus stats, or point them to articles about Macs and viruses, the SECOND there is something wonky going on, they call scream that they have a virus.
