As far as I can tell, each folder in Outlook can have its own archive file. If you hit 2GB with a folder, that's a pretty serious amount of data you're storing for e-mail. It seems as though the archive functionality can also add seperate DB files for the same folder. A singular data storeage is only bad if you don't have any sort of verification mechanism. Multiple files wont save you if they are all in the same linear area of a HD and that area gets corrupted.

A typical Windows server requires a huge amount of work making sure that everything is properly disabled, and that permissions are set up right.
Linux usually consists of saying chkconfig XXXX off a number of times, for everything that doesn't need to be running.
    These are different how?
Then you get the security issues. With Windows, you need to update quite often, while with Linux you can get away with about once a month. Plus, on Linux, you get your updates in pieces, so you only have to update what you are actually vulnerable for.
I guess check boxes are too complicated for you. Perhaps Windows should pop up a message box for every update?

That's what interfaces and asking for versions is about. COM is part of the answer to this problem. If you look at DirectX and see how it can give interfaces for versions way back when it first went to a COM interface and how it still works, then you'll understand how and why things are done that way. It's also why I would complain if I were the *nix using mass for every interface breaking version of libraries that they create.

That sounds like a lazy excuse for not implimenting a decent architecture for loading outside drivers. I'll use DLL's as an example. I can replace a DLL to my program, without recompiling it and it will still work properly. You can make your own DLL and replace the one I have, and the program will still function properly. The Linux kernel needs this for drivers, and it's probably similar to the method Windows uses.

COM actually gets around this as you specify a version that you desire and it gives you an interface that matches that version. You may only need one dll to match all the COM versions if they behave the same, or you may have multiple and it will automatically determine which one is needed.

Games are an issue. There is a real chicken and egg problem there, i.e. good games could be written for Linux, and Linux would dominate, but until if dominates there is no reason to write games for it...
That's not really the problem. It has more to do with Linux as a game development environment totally lacking any good tools and debugging. Game developers don't want to have to make these tools themselves, that only hinders development times.
