I'm pretty sure that Google and Yahoo have some data centers in the EU... and likely many other companies do too.
Gartner is being deliberately obtuse, IMHO.
I would use gdb trying to parse a Metallica MP3, just for the sheer irony of it.
On the other hand, it frightens me to think that gdb might find useful information in it.
Seconded, in a way. You see, I recall back in the day when I first started using linux. It took half a day on a borrowed computer and a pile of floppies, just to get a terminal.
6 months later, it took a similar effort to get X11 fron mit.edu working.
There wasn't any office suite.
Then Corel came along, with a native port of their word processor. I was so grateful for that, I bought the boxed set.
OpenOffice might be bloated, but I so thank ghod everytime I have to install.
Normally I'm not an anti-MS guy but I'm gonna break here:
I so hope that IBM or Sun can use OpenOffice to screw MS in the arse so hard that it would make your eyes water.
Actually, Darl Mc B was a former manager and sales guy at Franklin Covey. Prior to a suit against them.
Ditto for Novell.
Groklaw has the relevant documents.
"Also, most of the time when people think of 'nerds' the seem to believe that we're mild, or focused; when in reality we struggle with our 'gifts', perhaps more than most."
Amen to that! While I may despise his business tactics and products, I have to admit that he's certainly not stupid. Rather, I think he's hyper-competitive in a brilliant way. It has been said that he views the entire thing like a huge game, an MMORG... and he *hates* to lose, or (perhaps more importantly) feel like he's losing.
"And, on a side note - you have got to be kidding me about ftp downloading, even back in the day. Seriously."
Dunno about you, but I still use ftp. Regularly. It can be a lifesaver when you *need* to DL a certain package for an otherwise broken box. Just sayin...
Neither is my SuSE, nor my Fedora. Trick is to know exactly what you want and need, and almost never accept the defaults unless you just need a box up and running quickly. And no, I don't suffer from dependency hell and RPM hell.

Actually, yes. --From another olid fart.

Humans have a curved magic wang?
Dunno. Most men that I know went thru this stage decades ago. I admit to being a tad bit older though. ;) Ever try buying insurance?
If you need decent iPhone entertainment, you could always try this
Oh, say can you C...
I can C clearly now...
Somebody MOD THIS GUY UP!
Also, I know for a fact that AOL/Time-warner uses RH and Oracle internally at least.

No, they're not. Mostly because their business practices haven't changed much, even if their code was any good.
... shaved and took a shower. ;-)
"Daddy, why are you typing with only one hand??" "Hey, can't you knock!!??"
It's OK to tell us. We all have dark secrets. Here, have a coffee?
Did they bring a thermometer?
Dunno. The last time I sent my excess load to the cloud, God killed a kitten.
You guys finally evolved driveways for your igloos, eh? Cool!
I wonder what happens if one of the nano-players gets kicked in the nano-nads. Is there a referee?
You mean a pound is 7/16ths of a kilogram?? Thanks for clearing that up!!
Bwahahaha that made my day, thanks! I actually read the entire thing and wondered how Bob's Slack Fist of Reason would react to that.
In deference to relativity, perhaps they are exploring another aspect of this?
