Since the cold war, everyone in the USSR got used to everything being airtight. Alibies, reputations, satellite doors, etc. Just in case the KGB was checking...:0)
We could scrap the space program in favor of more fertility treatments - oh wait, did you say over- or under- population? I can't remember which is in vogue this year.
The public's irrational fear of all things nuclear is the only opponent that killed nuclear technology. It has nothing to do with actual science or statistical risk.
How True. With all the kilopounds (!) of fissile material from A-bomb, H-Bomb and explode-the-test-reactor-and- see-where-the shit-lands testing by the US, USSR, UK and France, then the little extra caused by a (hopefully very rare) exploding 'attommik spaceship'should hardly outweigh the advantages of such a transport system.
Or we could wait for the Space Elevator.
Or we could wait for Warp Engines.
Or we could go back into the trees and wait for the next big rock to fall from the sky.
Easy. Just shut the door on the sat on the ground. Launch. Instant 1 atm pressurisation. (as long as there is no leak...)No intent there, just good seals. (urk, urk...fish!) *sorry*
But such ungoodthink behaviours must be caught young, else the citizen might grow up to complain about DRM and 3d world outsourcing of tech jobs, etc, which are in fact for the common good.
Down with freethink!!
Like discounts for cash in a store that accepts CCards, NOT using a calculator in an exam that allows them can pay dividends. For example, you can show workings, together with any basic assumptions - I did a whole maths paper like this once at college, sans calc, which let me set pi=3, and work to no decimal places- which was valid, as long as it was stated at the beginning. No problems, good pass mark.
Useful too...
Yarr! Beware of bootleggers!
Ain't that like management? Check the employee in/out times with an atomic clock, work out the overtime with a sundial...
