    All the porn sites are going to do is redirect the .xxx domains onto their established .com domains. There has to be some way to force porn off the .com TLD. Probably the only thing to do that will be an army of faeries riding in armor mounted on flying unicorns. ( for those lacking a sarcasm detector, it means it's never going to happen )

    You're the boss and asking them to do something not only reasonable, but important for operations of the company as a whole. Your boss needs to measure your department and you need to measure your team.

    Don't ask them to do it...tell them to do it. ( Be assertive, not aggressive )

    It depends on what is being reviewed. For most system makers, no.

    There are a number of systems built by the maker for review purposes..they are configured and then shipped out for review. The reviewer has a number of days to do their work and then the system is shipped back. The system maker will clean up, check and reconfigure the system then send it out to the next reviewer.

    Let me answer my own question....because they are amoral.

    It's amazing to think these people would sign off on such an act. They had to know that the means to collect information would be shady at best. If they didn't know, they're too stupid to be in their position. It makes one wonder how they got there and what nefarious acts they committed to achieve their position.

    The Post is about Win98 support being discontinued, but then the poster says "...from newbies asking questions about switching over to Linux, and how would they support their new systems." (Emphasis mine)

    New systems don't run Win98.

    Frankly, it would be safe to say that people running Win98 in 2006 really aren't interested in computers. They'll use whatever is put in front of them. On new systems, that would be XP.

    But I would expect that people in this situation will continue to use Win98 forever, or until their computer croaks...whichever comes first. Unfortunately, I wouldn't expect any kind of mass migration.

    I would be the first to agree that HD does look better. But does it look better enough to toss my current DVD player and TV? Is it worth the headache of the format rivalry and all the DRM connectivity issues that I'm not sure a new set will be compatible with in two years?

    No.

    I'll continue to sit on the sidelines for a while longer.

    As a manager, I get peeved when deliverables are late but I see developers checking out some girl on Myspace. I have no problem with job-oriented surfing, but I want limits on what is accessed by my staff.

    I want my teams focused on the job at hand during the day when the entire staff is around to help each other out. Having people working outside normal hours, while admirable (kind of), may be unnecessary if more work and less surfing is done during the day.

    I'm still using a "1b" router and can't see that changing for a long while. Since my internet connection is far less than 10Mb ( max speed of "1b" ), there's simply no point in upgrading. Until my cable company provides higher broadband speed access than that, I'll keep this router.

    Mind you, I'm sure my Linksys router will crap out before I can attach a higher broadband connection to it, so I probably will upgrade sooner than later. But that's a rant for another thread!

    You just know that Joe and Jane Consumer will walk into Best Buy and NOT buy something they think they are getting. You have to think that even companies like Best Buy are going to be pissed having to deal with upset customers and spending time restocking stuff.

    But we have to remember this is Sony, so you can't expect something smart or fair for the consumer.

    A 9 year old Border Collie with an aggressive tumor in her front leg. This happened two weeks ago. She spent a lot of time playing with other dogs in the park. I'd hate to think that me wanting my dog to have some fun is what killed her. I'd hate to have to wonder and worry about this with my next dog.
