Feh! I don't believe we want to win the "war on terror" any more than we want to win the "war on corprate crime" or the "war on drugs".
Governing by decreet is a nice thing... it works wanders in public opinion, but in reality... DOES NOTHING to solve the problems in the first place...
I could be considered an expert in that area (as most portuguese people unfortunatly;)
Cheers...
P.S.- Car accidents and driving regulation changes are a current joke in Portugal, with the former be the higher in the world and the later be updates yearly or less [with no pratical effect of course]... In the US they go a step further... they form a new "task force" or "crack team" to couple with the problem... which helps in the short time... but in the long term does nothing...
Portugal is the best place to be in case of a III World War...
Even FBI thinks it is a Spain province... so all missiles will end up in Madrid/Spain ROFL...
More seriously... you should get a world map and study geography... because you just flunked the grade...
But that is normal... americans (i'm not sure if you are american or not... but it applies fully to them...) are known to be ignorant of everything that happens outside their belly hole (and anything else in general)...
When in doubt of anything think... do the americans do it? Then it is a simple and easy to do thing...

P.S.- I'm not anti-american at all... just anti-ignorance... and unfortunatly, americans have a lot to be desired in that chapter... they have the highest juvenille literacy to adult illiteracy in the world!!!
P.S.S.- And yes, i'm portugese also! (and we have the best fish dishes in the world... IMNSHO)
And beside, why should Apache be diferent that any other software?

Either way, mine was with feeding problems since the start, and gone to maintenance at the start of it's life and at the end of the warrantie (luckly, before it ended), the pickup mechanism simply broke down...
After that, it works fine, if i keep the feeding tray almost full... if it drops to less then 20 sheets, it will swallow all of them in a bite!

Of course and don't treat your clients as criminals as the majors do nowadays...
A nice site and mp3 tracks with low quality for the users to do the previews they like (and copy of they like... yup you will loose some sells, but in the end you will raise public awareness for the bands and will increase the sales).

a) You must have ip's; b) you must have access to register to the root servers...
The answer for a) is simple... money... you can buy blocks of ip ranges at a fairly cheap price (unit cost... as the package is a bit expensive, because they are sold as blocks of large qt of them)...
For b) you must persuade the root server administrators to allow you to register your server as a source for updates... which means... yes... ICANN...
Of course, you can always request and then sue them for not allow it... better use an european court, because in the states you won't have a chance... (ICANN is mostly an american institution and they trully think they OWN the internet)...

arg... i don't know what more to say... i'm too tired... working too much myself...
The problem is that if a industrial patent has a expiration time of 25 years and that is reasonable, because it covers 1 or 2 generations of technology at the most, in the IT industry it isn't, because it covers something between 6 to 10 generations of software...
And that is way to much time to wait for a patent to expire... [and effectivelly kills the usability of the technology or the patent system].
Cheers...
P.S.- I'm not against software patents (per si), just against stupid patents and the patent expiration time...
There is a diference on copyright and software patents.
Copyright is a protection granted to the implementation of ideas (mind that it doesn't protect the idea by itself, but just it's implementation in a one by one case).
Software Patents is a protection granted to "algoritms" (yuck... why did they remembered to allow patent that?). The problem with algoritms is that they aren't implementations but ideas by themself. Thrus they are indeed an evil in disgise and will hurt the economy of all countries that implement such legality in the long run.
Time will tell... in the meanwill we have to endure...
The answer he gave isn't relevant until someone hands over a patent violation warning...
Because it is humanly impossible to grook all the patents that are granted nowadays by the US Patent Office (and most of them shouldn't... but that is another issue - US LAW just stinks in the way they handle software patents and prior art).
So not only they use GPL without sharing the code, but they also incorporate patented materials without prior license to do it and shuffle the responsability to the users...
Nice commercial move chummers... Why not add the a prison penalty automaticly in the EULA?
About facilitation, that is a curious term and a dangerous legal detail of the copyright law, because it makes way to:
a) arbitrariarity of judges and juris;
b) rectro-liability;
c) uncertainity of legal status;
As it is, if P2P software is considered a facilitation program, then so should all OS arround the world and all "sharing" enabling software that sits over any OS.
This kind of liability, tagged just in the software creation, is impossible to mesure and work with.
Cheers...
P.S.- The use of P2P doesn't mean that one is doing anything illegal, i for once intend to study P2P for use in my company... for allow file sharing thru the internet between our workers. Like a kind of unregulated cvs system... Does that make me or my company copyright offenders? I think not...
The assumption that just because the copyright has some sort of weird encoding is a protection from copy is ridiculus.
The current copy protections of DVD's aren't such. They are just "viewing" prevention mechanisms. And as such they don't comply with DMCA as they don't constitue a "copy" protection.
Because that is much prior-art then the trademarks in itself...

They don't wan't ip to be treated like real merchandise at all!
Because if it would turn out that way, they would have to comply with all the commercial law that regulates material items...
AND IP ISN'T MATERIAL... (irrelevantelly to what the law(s) says)
You can even register that at the patent office as a Business model and sue everyone that tries to do the same ;)

Please don't place use the term P2P community as violators of copyright, because that assessment is fundamentally incorrect.
P2P allows for people to share files.
It just happens that the files some people place on sharing are such that they don't have the legal rights to do it.
As that happens, the copyright holders should sue them and not the producer of P2P tools.
BECAUSE P2P IS A GOOD TOOL if anyone give it a break!
