Yeah google is full of it:( They banned an independant news source recentrly -> http://sf.indymedia.org/news/2003/09/1640341.php
I almost feel a wave of censorship coming to the net, I mean, how else are the corporate giants going to control the media? The internet is killing them and Dean is proof of that. They have tried so hard to pus that Lieberbland, Gepfart and whoKerries....
Internet prefer Dean...
this sort of reminds me, not in a direct way, of when they asked all illegal middle easterners to register with US gov. They rounded tons of folks. Loads of them were held without lawyers and so on, this will all com out much later....
Also, I do not trade files, I rip streams. Which much like recording the radio statioon, is not illegal yet;)
So I would visit streamripper.sourceforge.net if you have not yet. You too can have a music collectioon that is gigs and gigs huge (as if you did not already being a slashdot reader)
Not that I think there is anything wrong with trading....
Are folks still doing the DOS pon the RIIA via the host file? I have used this:
http://ssmedia.com/utilities/hosts/
to map all ads to their site.... I read that here once and just love that idea...
I like the part about "are you afraid of product liability suits". He should have answered. "no, now that we understand how to buy politicians and use lobbyists, we no longer fear the law".
Sad but true. This last election here in SF they changed my location for voting, I seem to have missed the notice and I just about missed my chance to vote. I was sure they had done it on purpose, I sometimes feel as an american that the corporate machine has declared an all out war where not stone is left un-turned. Anways... I was sure they changed they location to where it would discourage voting. Then my friend reminded me of a grea maxim, goes something like "never atribute to malice what so boviously belongs to incompetence"... I am mis-quoting for sure, but it has the idea...

Best way to keep preadators away from your kids email is to redesign SMTP. I remember the days when telneting to a mail server always found one open. Now folks are a little smarter, but still the protocol is no good. On the other side of the issue however, lies the privacy issue and it's complexitites...

I agree, no faith in the parties as it is. What is worse, is that joining and alternative tends to make your worst enemy stronger. Voting for perot helepd de Dems, voting for Nader helped Bush. I kind am torn on this one, one side says if you do not vote your concience what is the point? The other side tells me to be practical and to win small battles at a time.
I see no reason as to why we should not to take a look at how something that is working could be improved. But I also agree that if it works, one should make sure that that it continues to work. Although I like your golden rule, but perhaps you could ad a little a little golden mean in with it?

I am not a legal expert, but if you are proven to be negligent about any business data, last I checked, you are at fault really. For example. If I listed all of my customers on my website, I could not sue an ex-employee for using my customer list to do sales, since I make it public and available to all. I do not see how SCO could claim proprietary information on something they released under GPL. However, this country seems so corrupt anything is possible.
Hey, get the disco jet part right at least dude. Disco jet was the first name for a muffler now called supertrapp. Reason they changed the name was cause of the pop music scene at the time and the popularization of disco.
So that project did indeed go through and not only that, it is considered by most who own motorcycles (ehem) the best racing muffler in the industry....
Camus would have agreed with you (If I remember, his idea was if you did nothing, and watch wrong occur, you are part of it). But then again, do you work for a guilt free biz? Does anyone? Never met anyone who did:)
and the amazing thing is he won this election with 39% of eligible voters voting, %5 of those who voted voted for an alternative, and of the remaindign %95 of those votes he did not even win half.
How about this...

What will happen to the pranks children played with public telephones? Like calling it as you see a random stranger/victim walking by it from your upstairs window, and playing with it phone switch thing in such a way that that when you hung up, the phone would ring endlessly and only stop when someone lifted it.
I guess there will be new wireless pranks for the next generation. I wonder what those punks will do...
This, "Me love you long time!", I believe is from the full metal jacket movie. It was a quote from a Vietnamese prostitute. So maybe making fun of the Japanese would be better in other ways.
I have a sense of humor too, but me love you long time is so tired now. Don't you think? Also, my dry sense of humor does not carry well in plain text where intonation plays key:(
Finally my B.O. is more than just a pretty smell...

Charlatan's don't invent the best racing muffler for motorcycles, so there must be some real "engineer" in him ;)

I know him (Paul Moller) believe it or not. It is so you can park it in your drive way and garage. Idea is you land it and drive it in.

Great idea, but what about the lawyers? They are just so sue happy :)
I guess we will finally be honest about this as a society, cuase longevity has sort of proven to be parallel with wealth.

maybe you should download zone alarm, it's good for those who don't know too much about securing stuff ...
