I have yet to read the whole article, but how do they extrapolate that a suit in virginia suing someone in conneticut would allow people from any country to sue a publisher in any other place?
This isn't even larger than the states... how would it even carry any weight outside the US?

I'm thinking I've come across a more evil version of the pop-up, I did a search in the code, there were no window.open() calls there, and there were no window.open() calls in any of the pages that the javascript ad links called... It seems that the ad virus has adapted:)

Actually, some bastard pop up ad people have already figured out a way around it. I was looking at foxtrot online (I live in Italy so these comics just aren't available in our newspapers) with my mozilla RC2 with open unrequested windows unchecked, and pow, a popunder. It has something to do with some of this code here:

well the slashdot system won't let me post it, but if you want a look at it, have a look at the very bottom of the uclick pages right above the end body tag. copy the href and open it in a new tag.

or I'll email it to you nick at mobilia dot it

Maybe it's a bug, but I tried multiple times after a reboot, I restarted mozilla, etc, and this is the only site I've seen it on so far.

Yeah, I ran into an example of this yesterday when looking at a movie site, they had a pop up on load, for the actual content of the page, because they wanted it in a small window, no menu etc.. My mozilla stopped them, and I had to look at the source to get to the page, although if they knew anything about web design they should have put a link that does the same thing... there's always more than one way to skin a cat..

Funny, most of the growth in AIDS infections is in minorities (and africa, but that's not westernized) and is not specifically related to homosexuality.
I'm not denying it is a factor, but you have to be pretty myopic to believe that only homosexuality is responsible for this mess.

Wait, you mean all those hippies at the greatful dead shows are dangerous people? Please, the only reason dangerous people and drugs are associated is the money you can make off selling them, which often attracts the less savory parts of society... if they weren't illegal, there wouldn't be money to be made.

Do you really believe that adoption finds homes for all the children??? Have you seen any of thos anti-abortionists campaigning for higher budgets for social services, or better sex education? Or even contributing to orphanages??? No, because their myopic views don't allow them to give a damn about these children after they're born.. I understand where you're coming from, but you're much much too idealistic... Oh yeah, these same people who don't want abortions are dead set against gays adopting children, which would really help these "extra" children, the ones that normal people don't take in, find homes. The largest problem I have with anti abortionists, is they don't look beyond birth, and aren't trying to find ways to prevent the neccessity of abortion, they just like being self righteous.

You just said it though, can't read for as long.. I think the design isn't that bad, tall narrow columns of text are much easier for me to process than wide short ones.. again, this is my personal preference, I find it much easier to follow a "thread" or train of thought in a narrative (I'm reaching for words here) when I can scan up and down instead of left and right. But the big limitation for me is the resolution, I'll read my books on paper, play my games and work on the computer.

  22. Re:They have to be kidding . . . on Multi-head Meets the Laptop · · Score: 1

You mention proper type setting, but forgot the most important part, resolution, a monitor still cannot compete with paper for simple legibility. When was the last time you read a book online, or even off your hard drive. It ain't happening. Eye strain is just one of the many reasons, you just can't cram the same amount of text in the same area.
