Autism four times likelier when mother's thyroid is weakened
Pregnant women who don't make nearly enough thyroid hormone are nearly 4 times likelier to produce autistic children than healthy women, report scientists from the Houston Methodist Neurological Institute and Erasmus Medical Centre in an upcoming Annals of Neurology.
The association emerged from a study of more than 4,000 Dutch mothers and their children, and it supports a growing view that autism spectrum disorders can be caused by a lack of maternal thyroid hormone, which past studies have shown is crucial to the migration of fetal brain cells during embryo development.
Except that countries didn't change all that much over 60 years, before the industrial revolution. So sons took over their father's work in many fields. Close enough for government work.
Scientists have just confirmed an effect, where there should be none, according to all of current science.
Whether you like it or not, this is a crack in current science and there may be larger effects elsewhere.

And you'd listen to them and figure out, based on the present information, and historic record, who is more likely to be correct. If none of them can resolve the problems, then I guess we will just have to wait until people are adequately motivated to find a a solution.
The most important things they see are definitely real. Like for example, the price of Gas and Groceries. And the job situation. Can't hide any of those for very long.
Well, sure. You do want candidates to explain to people what the issues are and why you should vote for them. Isn't that just part of the election process?
On the other hand, I've also walked down the street hundreds of times before, and it's never been a problem. Perhaps this time I will trip and fall. So I better micromanage my muscles to make sure I don't cramp up, or trip on anything.
