A handful of deals like this, and the money will be gone.
Actually I would have though Google would be much more vulnerable to this sort of scenario. They dont have the reserves or historical revenue MS has so if a few deals go south, the big share price takes a hit and suddenly the bank manager has more reservations, requirements and fees when they want to fund their next acquisition. Fortunately their revenue is increasing quite rapidly so they should be able to build up reserves over the next couple of years (assuming they do have some sort of plan to generate actual revenue out of deals like DoubleClick).

Yes but the point is the documentation usually doesn't just happen without the developer spending time either explaining it to a writer or typing it themselves and most developers tend to be unwilling to engage in either of these activities.

Contact that person, offer to write a help page, they'll tell you how.
You would like to think so but the reality is more likely is they will tell you get lost because since they didn't have the time/inclination to write the documentation in the first place they are unlikely to be able or willing to find time to hold your hand through explaining it all to you. Developers round here, myself included tend to attempt disappearing tricks when we see the technical writers heading in our direction.

Exactly because in the best American tradition we would all carry firearms and could perforate any burglars or villans with bullet holes. Obviously this has side benefits in providing free and realistic target practise for everyone and afterwards there can be a group discussion about weapon performance and what really is the right gun for you.

.Net is Java without portability and with bugs.
MS want you to use their platform, just like SUN saw Java as a means to ship their hardware and Solaris. This surprises you why? Care to mention some of these bugs? I have been using both Java and .NET for several years and the bug counts for both platforms are quite low.

and don't even get me started on ASPX vs JSP
You are right, ASPX is a vastly superior and cleaner model for web development and does not require learning 5 different Java web frameworks to get anything done in a maintainable manner.

most of our developers only know .net otherwise we would be a Java on Unix
Since this is not the case you obviously dont call the shots on the IT Architecture so this is wishful thinking on your part, not fact.
