One of the main points, one which he put much stress on (and I'm glad to see this) is Customer Support. Problems happen; and if the game is to survive and prosper, good support is essential. I've been playing EverQuest for some time, and the support there (which has improved) is still, in my opinion, subpar and problems are often very hard to get some answers/help for. Especially when you have technical issues.
The old joke was this; "Verant changed the mean of CS; it now means 'Customers Suck'."
This is just more of the same ol' story: companies sticking their advertisements everywhere: cramming every possible orifice full of their logo. Now instead of being obnoxiously located above, below, and to the sides of all the content your reading on the net: it will now be located inside the content.
George Carlin was right.. bend over a little more..
Microsoft has been using the name "windows" for a while; I don't think theres likely to be any backlash against their claim to it, after all this time and with previous results.
At the current prices; it may seem quite expensive indeed for most people.. however, I could see that this $4,000 price tag would not be unreasonable if you were doing some very large amounts of storage. (Such as business record backups.)
Sometimes we'll sit around when we're bored and think of ways games could be better; different implementation systems and cool ideas that would just kick ass in games. Developers should just randomly show up at lan parties and ask questions. =)
I'm pretty sure the Sony Corporation was never known as Verant.
This is true. However, Verant was the company which was devolping this and is responsible for games such as EverQuest. I believe Sony Online Entertainment took over the operation at some point however.
Hey, this involves computers. Every person who has a computer should be expected to *volunteer* to each type, word for word, an entire book every year as a side project, because, I mean, hey, you ain't got nuthin' better to do with your life, right?
The key word there is volunteer: I just thought it might be a project that librarians might be interested in contributing to, no one is forcing them, nor expecting them to do so.
Actually a lot of librarians do contribute to the many, many digital library projects *you* take advantage of, without thinking of the amount of work invested, and without appreciation for their efforts.
I _do_ appreciate that efforts, and I commend them for volunteering their precious time.
Before volunteering the efforts of others, volunteer your own.
Lastly, I wasn't volunteering them, merely suggesting it as an idea. Secodnly, I would gladly volunteer to type up a book for this project.
I'm not too informed about this topic; feel free to correct me.
If the goal is a universal library, and there is a need for a work force, wouldn't a program iniated on the library level to utilizie librarians as a volunteer work force, perhaps as a side project they might be interesting in helping along? I think of it as SETI in the library world.. *shrug*
Clearly, the anonymous cowards who troll me should be handled accordingly by slashdot. I am offended to receive their negative feedback; and I hold slashdot fully responsible!/end insanity

At these speeds, would you hardware be more likely to 'burnout'?

Besides; blue is a superior color to red =D
Ahh, but can they too survive nuclear winter?
Sure they're gamers. Hell, I'm sure they all are! =)

Really, who's to blame here? Is the lack of income by the individual the result of the large share the recording label takes?
No one said the music business was easy either, and we all know the success stories are certainly the far and away cases.

I wanted to upload some images of my hometown, but I couldn't find any really good pictures of the garbage dump.

I don't suppose this project could be picked up by anyone else willing to finish/release it?
That is to assume a) anyone would even be interested in it and b) Sony will be letting it go for someone else to develop.
Anyways, I'd like to see it get finished; even if its not a superb game, the concept is cool, i'd give it a go.
Man makes machine.. man uses machine.. man teaches machine chess.. machine beats man at chess.. machine conquers world..
So thats where the matrix came from..
Thats what I'm waiting for... what they'll be fined or how much time they'll get.
Being beaten with sticks doesn't seem to unfair to me, considering how much I loathe spam.

Only 45 comments and already its been slashdoted; though I appreciate the fact that is the actual server message =)
Not exactly the showdown of the century..

I do not recall Redhat supporting any of their distro releases for 8 years.
;)
Yeah, it didn't take them 8 years to fix all the problems & security issues.
Well, perhaps this is over simplifying, but since I bought this DVD & this CD; are they not mine?

.. for me to use my hacked XP discs =)
P.S. an XBox is not an essential.
Thats what you think! We can't get any business done without a good hour or so of Halo multiplayer every day!
