Just to correct you a little: ash doesn't fly up the chimney stack. Ash is normally sold to make things like roads. It's not a 'waste' product. It's a source of revenue.
Small file sizes like this are pretty pointless. I would have liked to have seen 1gb demo downloads as seen on the 360.
Even then, using one connection, as I'm sure my 360 does, is not a great test. I can only max out my 20mbit connection (18.5mbit in the real world) by using 20+ connections. I'm yet to find one of these so-called bandwidth test sites that scores me higher than 10mbit - we all know how shite these sites are...
My street in the UK is a "no cold calls" street. We all thought it would be a complete waste of time when the local council introduced it. No one believed the cold callers would take any notice.
Two years down the line, I've not had one caller interrupting my dinner, not one knocking late at night and, this is the biggest bonus in my eyes, no religious callers on a Sunday morning even thought the by-law doesn't apply to them.
One notice at the beginning of the street with the police station's number at the bottom has been enough to put everyone off calling.
Now if the council could just collect my refuse weekly I'd vote them in again.
You're doing something wrong with your RARs then. I send 15-20mb RARs files to my mother regularly through Gmail (we both have accounts). I encrypt the filenames too if that's any help.
I happen to value soap far, far higher than I do most music singles. In fact it's is a lifesaver in terms of hygene.
I know those little bars in hotels I stay at don't cost much, but I'm sure the price of a large bar is higher than the price of a song on iTunes. The wife buys Imperial Leather...
I have never stolen soap. I have copied songs. I no longer feel guilty thanks to David Lammy. Cheers matey.
I like this idea. It could all be done online too. Maybe using type of message board or forum where everyone posts but only a select number get to vote. Maybe the voting options could be Normal, Offtopic, Flaimbait, Troll, Redun...
No way. You've just brought back some wonderful memories of my friends and I chasing rats, by the chicken coop, with nail embedded sticks. I wish I was ten again.
Oh wait, second memory I have to share...
Imagine a rat trapped by its foot in a heavy cast iron rat-trap. Imagine my father hitting it over the head with a spade with all his force. Imagine the rat screaming - yes they do. Imagine the rat not dying with the first blow.
I find this whole saga slightly amusing. I ditched my ISP's email nearly ten years ago because 500 spam emails a day would soon max-out the 10mb mailbox limit. The fact that you had to use [first name].[last name]@isp.co.uk is ripe for a UK census name list attack makes it even more laughable.
As for the suggestion that random noise emails are sent as a poisoning tool: it's pointless. They are only saving headers.
Ditto about stability, although I can get it to blue screen when playing full screen videos. Damn HP and their driver bastardisation, blah, blah, blah.
I've not tried ppsteam but have a couple of other Chinese P2P streaming apps. Quality is not so great to be honest. Maybe old YouTube quality.
P2P Flash applications, with connections to IRC chat rooms, are the way forward. But some of these are shut down quite quickly when they're showing PPV sport.
I compiled 32 [x 2 different sites] specification and tender documents using Word. 32 files, each containing an average of 1000 sheets. All had ToC, automatic numbering of paragraphs and headings, image references, cross references, etc. Versioning was achieved using good old fashioned "Save as...".
I was employed for this task and this task alone.
Using Word is not impossible. It's not even difficult if you know how to use the tools you are given. I even used the equation editor a couple of times!
People on here give Word a hard time but it's like any piece of complex software; there is a learning curve. Most people's failure is trying to format while they are writing. I often tell others to do the content first and I'll worry about the formatting later. OO is a cool-tool but don't knock Word.
And on that list is open source JkDefrag written by Jeroen Kessels.
JkDefrag succeeded in defragmenting an old drive of mine in one shot. DiskKeeper was still going after the 8th attempt. Hence my hunt for better software.
It's well worth jumping through Jeroen Kessels' spam filter hoop because Jeroen is a friendly man who seemed to appreciate me emailing my thanks.
JkDefrag. JkDefrag. JkDefrag. Don't forget the name.
We had that notice on our DC server. Not once did we see a copper in the username list. It worked. Really, it did.
Honestly, it did.
Seriously, don't laugh, it did.

See electrostatic scrubbing too.

A fuller test is in order.
Ours are named after local towns. A big medal to whoever thought that was a good idea.

He's a smack head. It doesn't get any lower than that.
Wasn't that part of the humour too? You could see the wires holding up the spaceship sometimes!
1. Ask someone to email the install EXE.
2. Configure the bundled Outlook Express with your POP3 settings.
3. Install Firefox.
Easy!!!
(sorry, no need for my coat, I'll brave the cold)

Good point but I paid an author £10 to sign his book last year. It's now one of my treasured possessions.
(£10 went to charity but I would have paid anyway)
I not worried. The UK government will latch on to this, add a billion other URLs, then lose the list.

My new 42 inch plasma doesn't feel hot at all. Not even warm. I was disappointed.
Maybe the four fans in the back keep it cool?
Using HDMI, the Xbox 360 won't switch on and send images to the TV unless the TV is on. Not on my setup anyway.
I just bought a 42 inch plasma. Instructions say 100,000 hours of use until 50% brightness.
At 6 hours a day, that's 45 years.
At 24/7 that's 11 years and there's no way I'm keeping it that long.
Me thinks it's a non-issue.
You're going to need contain yourself here :)
[windows key] + R
The "R" is for Run.

For $20 a month you may as well use Usenet.

In the UK, you get the letter plus a URL to the picture.
My friend had a letter and swore blind it was him until we viewed the image. He was 100% guilty.
