This worker probably won't have to pay any federal income taxes after deductions. This worker will be eligible for Medicaid. He won't be able to pay off the loans for his house and the car he'll need to drive out to the middle of nowhere where your factory is located because of cheap land prices and interstate access.
Now republicans and libertarians not only want to lower the amount this worker gets paid, they want to remove the government provided healthcare option that they themselves don't want to offer to workers.

Pirates don't pirate because of DRM. They pirate because it is easier than working for x amount of hours and then driving to the store, hoping it is in stock, only to be hit with DRM.
Pirate version has a small chance of being infected with something that will destroy your system, versus a guaranteed 100% chance that the retail version will be infected with something that'll ruin your computer's performance and deny you access to what you have bought. But before that, I used to work with 14 gauge wire, 12 gauge wire, and 10 gauge wire. It is significantly harder to route 10 gauge wire. Even more so if you already have insulation and drywall up. Perhaps things will be different with the 10 gauge equivalent graphene wire gets mass produced at a reasonable price, but until that day you'll need to accept that electricians will charge you extra for the inconvenience of having to deal with 10 gauge when 12 gauge probably more than met the hot tub's requirements.

All of the current US nuclear reactors can survive direct hits from the biggest airplanes we have. Now one might be able to fly a jetliner into the backup generator and have some friends chop the transmission wires, forcing the old generation power plant to shut down. Without the backup generator to power the water pumps, the nuclear power plant might melt down.
Which is all the more reason to upgrade to the current reactor designs which only shut down in this unlikely, hypothetical scenario I just described.
Basically the rogue employee angle is only really possible with the dinosaur reactors that we can't upgrade from thanks to red-tape and political fear mongering. The rogue employee could hypothetically shut down the cooling which can cause it to melt down. With the new reactor designs, the most the rogue employee can do is cause it to shut down.

The risk of meltdown will stay the same until either all nuclear power plants are shut down OR we use the latest generation reactor designs which shut the reaction passively if there is a water pump or generator failure.
Fukushima wouldn't have been such a big deal if they had the latest revision instead of something that should have been retired decades ago.
Tsunami hits the diesel generator. This shuts down the generator. But instead of the reactor melting down since the water pump was unable to function, it merely shuts down. Instead of radioactive babies for generations, it would of been a minor story about a power outage.
The pro-nuclear crowd is trying to resolve the safety issues. It is unfortunate that anti-nuclear fear mongers won't let them do so.
I live within the immediate fallout range of a nuclear power plant. It of course has an old reactor design. I'd rather have them replace it with a better nuclear reactor than have to deal with a bunch of coal power plants to replace it. But my options are either a small chance of fallout or guaranteed radioactive particles from coal burning.
Politicians, I know you like being able to get elected by playing on the fear of nuclear power, but there are other things out there that can fulfill that role just as well while not risking the safety of those living near the dinosaur reactors. Just use the usual topics of for/against gay marriage, abortion, birth control, pre-marital sex, etc.
Marijuana decriminalization. As in all laws on the federal level forbidding the growth of Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica, regardless of the THC levels, are repealed. No bureaucracies to issue permits. No government mandated age requirements, leaving that role to parents. No special taxes. Just plain state sales tax if applicable if you sell it.
I don't need a special permit to grow tomatoes, corn, lettuce, wheat, etc. I just want to go out into my backyard, tend to a hypothetical quarter acre field of the stuff, and vaporize it for my chronic nerve pain.
I have something called Hemophilia B. It is an extremely rare bleeding disorder which basically means I have little to no factor IX. I can't take most over the counter pain relievers due to their blood thinning effects and I'm immune to the rest. I have to weigh between tolerating horrible pain and bleeding from some orifice for the next day. Decriminalizing marijuana will give me another method of relief.
Now you might say "oh but what do you need a quarter acre of it for?" Seeds. The seeds can be prepared into various food products such as hemp milk. I'm allergic to milk and there is a limit to the amount of soy I can tolerate in one day. This will allow me to eat more soybean based dishes in a day if I'm not using it in my cereal.
There are other uses such a paper and textiles. It is a great rotation crop because the hemp kills off weeds.
More productive jobs can be created from hemp than we'll lose in law enforcement and prison industrial complex. Our prisons will no longer be overcrowded. Taxes that were going to prisons could instead go to infrastructure upgrades and repair, or to pay down the national debt.
I just have to wonder about the whole "unable to afford minimum wage" part. Will you please post some accounting records to back it up?
As in proof that paying $7.25 a hour without benefits will push net profit into net loss. Make sure to include your hourly wage, yearly salary, and/or yearly capital gains.
On number 4, I don't see how someone earning $7.25 a hour is too much to be paying factory workers, especially when automation is lowering the amount of workers required to keep a factory running.
Assuming our current minimum wage and maximum part-time hours to avoid paying benefits, each worker will cost about $10000 a year. This worker probably won't have to pay any federal income taxes after deductions. This worker will be eligible for Medicaid. He won't be able to pay off the loans for his house and the car he'll need to drive out to the middle of nowhere where your factory is located because of cheap land prices and interstate access.
Now republicans and libertarians not only want to lower the amount this worker gets paid, they want to remove the government provided healthcare option that they themselves don't want to offer to workers.
I just can't see how the average American worker would be better off. I do understand how the top 1% will be better off from these ideas. At least until the bottom 99% decide to eliminate those who do so little yet take so much.
