    There is one mirror per pixel; therefore each one only has to move at 180 Hz or so (3 moves per refresh period - once for Red, Green and Blue.) to get a 60 fps refresh rate.

    So to play Doom 3 I will need a minumum of $130.

    $50 for the game and $80 for Radeon 7500 - the lowest spec card mentioned as working.

    And top of the line - GeForce 4ti - is about $300

    (ebay prices)

    I'd better start saving.

    If Obi-Wan lied to Leia about her brother then he could have lied about her mother as well.

    That said, Lucas is incredibly naive if he thinks anyone is going to accept Jar-Jar being added to Ep IV. Personally, I think AICN has been fooled yet again.

    AVD, the Chinese one, is only in China. Who knows where the Taiwanese one, TVD, will be sold.

    If the Chinese and Taiwanese want to bypass the DVD tax then lets hope they don't mind annoying the studios as well and make their players region-free.

    Can the studios detect these players and make sure their disks won't play on them? They did that super-new region coding thing a while back didn't they?

    They're probably fed up of irate users phoning them up when the flash plugin crashes playing a bad file.

    Remember windows says says

    "IExplore.exe had an exception in flash.DLL"

    and not

    "Britney.swf crashed the flash plugin DLL"

    It would be better if the plugin handled corrupt files more gracefully, but reminding flash developers of their responsibilities is a reasonable addition IMO.

    True, but the people doing the copying are probably being underpaid and exploited - a sweatshop type situation. It benefits no-one to arrest them. The ones who run the scheme, and get the cash, are the ones really breaking laws.

    so the answer is no.

    (This assumes the EULA hasn't changed since the time you didn't read it.

    So for a film to be globally successful (read: profitable) it has to pander to the sensibilities to those still so upset by the terrorist attacks that they can't bear to see the World Trade Center depicted, innocently, on screen?

    Why is Spider-Man's version surprisingly drubbing Lucas

    Because it isn't part of a series (yet). It can be enjoyed as a single film.
    Anyone can see Spiderman; to see AotC you probably need some interest in Star Wars otherwise it will make no sense

    An easy optimisation trick for Kartoo :-
    • Press Options
    • Press Timeout
    • Click the - symbol until the display reads 10.
    • Press the X
    • Try your search again.
    Voila! It is now much quicker at being useless!
