This is cool.... It's awesome that a big company like that is using linux for the graphics, especially because I thought the CGI in LotR was exceptional. Even the Cave Troll, which at least I expected to look really fake, seemed to fit in.
heh, this is also funny because around the time when the movie came out, my friend was making lots of his own character designs using the GIMP, so maybe the real graphic designers were doin the same thing:P
My friend once made a UPS out of some furbies and a big-ass fishtank... it was sort of cool, although it didn't really work, at all. But it was cool, ie: when we cut the power, one of the furbies blew up, and the water started bubbling... but the computer still shut off, o well.
What's the point of having such an accurate view of the tumors? Shouldn't we be focusing on ways to either prevent or destroy them, rather than observe them?
well, maybe in the perfect world, HOWEVER at least everyone I know (including me) has to either go to school or work, and PDA's are great for keeping organized for those two things, plus they're great entertainment to use on your commute (subway, traffic, whatever). Having a laptop would be more favorable, however if you want something smaller (or just dont' have the money) PDA's are always an OK option
these are lookin nicer than older PDA's, but still... if you want useful mobile computing, I still say buy a freakin laptop! $1000 more for $1000 more worth of features!
Katz says that this is the "exact same kind of documentary they'll be doing on hackers.."
one problem.
While Dogtown has lots of footage of tanned California kids skating pools, what the hell are they going to show for a hacker documentary? Greenblatt programming a chess program?
I mean, it's great that a large company is taking on Linux on a large scale, however, the fact that it will be running on these machines shouldn't be viewed as a huge victory. Do the clerks at these stores even realize what sort of OS they're using? Will Linux run these terminals any differently than anything else?
isn't buying stock in "linux" like buying stock in "drawing" or "running"?

I think they're available on the NTT DoCoMo phones, there's information at http://www.nttdocomo.com
Hmm... interesting how this relates to Embedded Linux Books... :P

This can't be legal... aren't there some laws about civilians launching themselves (or objects) miles into the sky?
