Hrmm... now that you mention it, I don't think I have ever heard of the two in the same room. Could it be...?
It is distressing to see that CodeWarrior and CodeFusion are both targeted at RH and SuSE. Though Cygnus claims that "the current v1.0 Dev Kit will probably work fine on Caldera, Debian, and other releases of Linux," it distresses me to see that major distributions (like Debian, what I consider to be the "reference" distro) are not supported. It can't be that difficult to support the program on the other major distributions, such as Slackware and Debian. If the Linux world becomes balkanized due to software support limitations, that would be an upsetting day. -awc
Does anyone know if the Apple flatscreen cinema display can be used with a PC? Better, does anyone know if it can be used with any of the popular X servers?
>quite frankly I don't see how theres a story here >at all, it's like the "cyberwar" between Pakistan >and India, it has an effect but it's negligable if >one side does anything.
I dunno. What if the Indians or the Pakistani knocked out the central banking infrastructure of the other country? Or disrupted central communications? A cyberwar could be quite effective.
I needed to find out how to measure my hat size, and I went to Google, but received no meaningful answers. I decided to give AskJeeves a shot, so I entered "How do I measure my hat size?" into the search engine. It gave me about seven very helpful, useful answers. I was impressed. For the times that Google doesn't work, I plan to go to AskJeeves.com.
After seeing the/. article on how companies can buy their altavista rankings, I have not gone back there. If I'm looking for something that is easily categorized, I'll go to yahoo, but not with much frequency.
It strikes me that, by this figuring, scour.net should be in a whole lot of trouble. That is all they do--link to mp3 files.
And I doubt that they have the legal capital that an outfit like lycos does to fight the bad guys (was I correct in reading that it is the pornographic publishers alliance, or something like that, that was pursuing the Swedish fellow? Sheesh.
7.5.1 was pretty crummy. 7.5.3 was a very stable OS revision. I ran 7.5.3 and then 8.0 on my 8100 for a very long time. They were both very solid releases.
Once again, I'm with Scott on this one: Get over it. We really don't have anything more than token nominal privacy, so does it really matter how much we think we have lost? No.
How good is the latest beta? I haven't been over to my BeOS partition in some time, so I haven't downloaded the browser.
I would imagine that the linux port will look an awful lot like the BeOS one, so we should look closely at that for indications.
What? I can't hear you.

That's pretty nifty.

It wouldn't necessarily be over the internet, but a cyber war could be conducted nonetheness. eh. whatever.

Heh. Did you notice the name change to 'deja.com'. There ain't no news there no more.
-awc
It just plain wins. I've been using it for almost a year, and I have very seldomly needed to go elsewhere.
Though it does seem to have a techie bias.

Why not? Popular action is always better than a statement handed down from a remote, detached standards organization.

Quite true--does anyone know what his political position was?
It strikes me as most flexible to be in Dr. Strangelove and Patton with any strong political convictions.
And why did he refuse the oscar for patton?

Wow! That was an astonishingly funny article. I implore everyone to invest the ten minutes required to read the whole thing. It's a hoot!

They're just plain silly.
I hope the germans see fit to handle the situation properly.

Oops. I did a double-take when I read that post. I suppose my second take was as accurate as the first one.
Heh.
Doh!

I don't think so. Isn't that how copyright works? Or am I backwards. I know that one of the two doesn't care about how vigorously you defend it.

Will people ever calm down. It's just a waste of time for everyone involved. And they seldom get anything out of it other than legan expenses.

That's wacky! I love Macs, but I would never rely on one as a server. They make teriffic user workstations, but server-stability, they have not.

How would your life be different?

Actually, if you go back and watch the pre-Shadow War eps of B5 after seeing the whole series, they are really really interesting.

I love Star Trek, but it really is getting a little tired. DS9, Voyager. It's an unpleasant trend.
