I think I've commented on something like this before. MD's are nice for their size and if you don't mind high compression for lower sound quality (fine for working out) then you can squeeze in excess of 3 hours onto an MD using Sony's PROPRIETARY ATRAC-3 encoding. I'm sure it doesn't work on Linux for the USB delivery system. You basically recompress your MP3 to ATRAC when using the "NetMD" line. My problem is durability and features in a single unit. Sony has FINALLY released a 'Sport' model to the MD line but it has no inline remote. Major suckage because you need to handle the device to change tracks. I've also laid waste to 3 portables though my current one still works I have the battery door duct taped and the remote doesn't really work. (Are you listening Sony?)
What I now the majority of the time is a miniCD mp3 player. 3 hours of music at 160K works for me. Battery life is good. Handles the elements pretty well and rarely skips while cycling. Running though you'd be suited best to solid state. That's the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Eh?
Surely you've seen the project where a 40 something year old built a MechWarrior tree fort for his kids. That's major geek points right there. It's all about doing something different and unique without losing complete functionality of your project. Putting some instance of linux on unthinkable pieces of equipment gets you points too. That's something you can't do with other operating systems. Creativity doesn't have to cost grand $$. It's the think points you need. So go do something completely different from anything you've ever seen and let us all know what you've come up with and you too can get slashdotted.
If you get the ProMedia 5.1 set it only retails for $399. There of course is NOT a better speaker set available for the PC. Many many reviewers will be happy to attest to that fact. If I didn't feed my digital output to my DD receiver with a higher end sub/sat system then I would more than happily own the Klipsch.
The plasmas I've seen all contain 15pin VGA connections for certain. And if you really want a 50" screen then why not go for Viewsonic's model? Last I read it was able to to 1600x1200 which I would imagine on a screen that size would be as hideous as running 640x480 on my 21" tube. If you're going big and flat then go for the most pixels man. And if you're on a budget Sony's 42" does somewhere in the range of 1024x768.
Because when Linux is everything you need to the right people you can save money not having to buy certain O$'s or spend exuberant amounts of $$ on something like a Mac. Not to mention with more open source support for pro audio others would get involved in improving existing software for the community and thus inspire more creativity. The more money a starving artist can save on software packages the less he/she would have to work and have more time to play. Eh?
I've got the same agreement on everything I use!! The GPL is certainly my favorite. Anybody know the quote from an old singer who said he just wanted to write but anybody can sing it anyway they like? Amen to freedom.
True appreciation would be all users bringing you some overpriced coffee drink coated with sugar and dairy products, setting them on your desk, not say a word, not expecting you to smile or even look up, and then every one of them would turn off their computers and leave for the day. Truly bliss.:)
I be thinking others may have tried to come and got lost. There was a StarBuck$ sign on the Safeway across the street and Safeway was not open. So only 5 people came of which 3 were actually Slashdot readers. Of course 4 out 0f 5 were EUGLUG folks too. Maybe next time you lazy geeks!!
Post codes have not gone anywhere. Some motherboards even have "talking BIOS" which is kind of freaky. Of course POST codes don't work once you're in the OS. It's up to the OS to tell you you have a problem then. Thus morse code is perfect for a box acting as a firewall or small server with not monitor attached. Eh?
I sure miss the NE USA. I spent 10 years growing up in Albany and there wasn't much to do at the time. It's mostly a historical place being the capital of NY and part of the original 13 colonies. I can imagine the outskirt towns like Colonie just booming with yuppies. Sure miss good ol' PS16. Anyone else attend there?
How could they!?! Where can I find the source for it. Really now, it's quite fun squashing Bill before his OS gets on my network. Level 21 has been my best for the few times I've played.
why an RPM? I find that source normally builds perfectly fine on a RH box as long as you've got most of the general libs installed. Also, Mozilla and Netscrape have pretty much automated installs. Just start the scripts, answer some questions and give it a few minutes. Ximian Gnome does the same basic thing too. Y'all should try that one too.

Really they aren't considering just the other month they reviewed Lycoris Desktop Linux as well with a favorable results.

If Ben's toys were patent free what about the music created on them?
So where do I get a job that allows me such freedoms?

What about a seatbelt and airbag for racing games?

Shouldn't country be banned for inbreeding while you're at it? What about banning Bill G. for his creation? It's his fault I use linux. :-)
