This is beyond belief. I don't know to be upset with these idiots that filed the suite or the US patent office which uses the same naming convention (most government agencies do). I've heard they have Ph. D. working at the patent office but come on...who signs off on their Ph. Ds?
The best way to gain skills is to work on semester long projects. Back in school did several semester long projects and my favorite was one in which we simulated a UNIX operating system using Java. It was challenging. It had a console all the little UNIX command line apps (cat, talk, edit, vi clone, supported piping, etc). I doubled my skills as a programmer and my Java skills went from 0% to 100% thanks to that project.
If you just finished school you better have some internship experience. Also, don't demand too much money. I've seen people ask for 60K who just came out of school. For that kind of money one can hire a skilled person with experience nowadays.
Oh and if you procrastinated through out college you are fucked. I have friends who if today came to me for a job I wouldn't hire. It is sad but true.
What these guys lack is financial backing and I think what they have on display could get them some serious financial backing. I mean come on, EA could all of a sudden want a console of its own and buy these guys out or give them the financial backing they need.
These guys have something to show and tell, and that is what buyers/investors want.
You know that lawyers are whores right? If my lawyer finds out that whoever submitted code actually worked for MS or the company suing me you'd better belive he'll be gunning for maximum damage and will be willing to work for free. It would be like hitting the lottery and not having to pay taxes on your winnings.
The cable companies have the speed market cornered and I would even say they are in cahoots. I mean really, look at their princesses; they are almost exactly the same. $45-$55 dollar price range. One has to ask why do they all have the same price? It is not like they are directly competing with one another. If you ask me, cable companies have not intention of lowering their princesses ever. Until we see mass defection to DSL or the growth of DSL I don't expect my cable internet price to go down. Oh well, I'll just continue to threaten my cable company every friggin month with "I would like to cancel..." just to that they will continue to give me the $30 price deal they currently give me.
PS 3 will have all the bells and whistles everyone wants. On top of that they'll have a ton of games and developer support. I'm sure PS 3 will be DVR capable too.
Honestly, if XBox and PS 3 came out at the same time and have similar features which would you buy?
Please name some of those VAST majority of Islamic countries. I would say they are quite knowledgeable in terms of world affairs and politics. Just because they haven't received formal education doesn't make them more susceptible to follow the wrong path. People know the difference between right from wrong without the need for formal education. I dare say it is an instinct we are all born with. What people in the Arab world feel is in deferent and not deep hatred. They feel no one cares about them so why should they care? Education doesn't make one peaceful. As far as Arab needing to embrace the west, well shit, have you been to an Arab country? All you see is American goods in stores and Hollywood junk on TVs. Think they know more about America/Americans than Americans know about them.
Yes I agree that despots and fundamentalist will rise to power, but every nation must go through growing pains. The only way to free people is to simply say "We will not deal with you and we will leave you alone." This is specially true in the Islamic world since "Peace through lack of Interaction" is mentioned in Quran as one of the means to accomplish peace. One prime example of this tactic working is Libya and Qaddafi. Libya felt isolated and so it had to change its way. I'm sure Qaddafi was feeling the heat because of the poor conditions.
How original can a open file dialog be? Come on there is no innovating when it comes to trivial things like Open File Dialog. We all know all the elements that are need because they are intuitive.
Now imagine if people could patent look & feel...It would be almost impossible to write a software that doesn't infringe on someone else's patent. Yes I know, Macromedia and Adobe were able to somewhat patent L&F but I'm not quite sure if that was all there is to it. I think their case revolved around functionality along with appearance.
If you must know my dad came to visit me this x-mass. We had jolly good time. Now my dad is at home with my mom having a good time doing whatever old people in love do. Just because I said that I love my mother doesn't mean I come from broken home moron.

I was referring to M$ media center and M$ tablet PCs. Plus XBox numbers are abysmal...when you are losing money you know it is bad. Yeah I know, it is a long term investment, but do you think the competition is going to sit idly and wait for you to catch up in a highly competitive market?
A better question might be is how is MS last venture into the media/entertainment gadgets do? Surly this thing is another bad investment they are going to write off. I mean really, how many units of the PC media center or the table PCs were moved? Sooner or later they'll realize that people don't want MS hardware, well at least according to sales figures.
I don't know what the craze with IM is. Half the time I'm on there are people on or come on that I have no desire to carry a conversation with. And if you simply ignore these people they get offended. When I login I'm looking for one particular person to converse with not the every bloody person on my friends list. I for one find IM annoying...the whole system need an overhaul.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend doesn't guarantee longterm friendship. Friendship is fickle and it only takes a few events to start a complete decay in the relationship. You think the US is going to be happy about India gaining more presence in the aerospace industry? I'm sure that all the American companies are not happy because of the competitive danger India brings. As soon as the Senators get calls from Boeing, Hughes, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin you'll see India on its knees.
Remember the Unites States is about the preservation of its World dominance. And lets not forget that most of the world signed their souls when they agreed to free world trade which in sense means the preservation wester IP. Indian companies will have to pay whether they like it or not.
