    A friend of mine who attended University of Washington has went and studied in Japan for 1 year and his entire tuition was paid for by the Japanese government. He even managed to get a monthly allowance of about $1000 dollars. Japan is by far one of the better places to go study oversees.

    I just booked a flight through Orbitz this morning and was going to book one later tonight for Memorial Day weekend. This is the last time I use Orbitz! Honestly, where has all the trustworthiness gone?

    I encourage every to delete their credit card information from your Orbitz account. That probably doesn't grantee privacy but it is well worth it.

    You have accomplished nothing yet you have the audacity to insult a man who has accomplished much. Compared to Stallman you are a man of small stature. In the future please refrain from making an ass out of yourself.

    There are hundreds of universities that would love to have Stallman as a member of their research department. MIT would be foolish to just simply let a talent like Stallman walk away.

    MS might not like pirates but they really would rather keep people's sphere of influence in windows world. You have one pirate sway and you can potential have their family and friends swayed to the OS alternative. Take my sister for instance. She'll use whatever I recommend. And so long as she can browse the net, check her email, and IM her friends she is happy.

    Everyone probably knows that Kodak was falling off but it has just reach a new low. Looking at the patents they claim they own you'll note that every program every written that makes use of an object manager is infringing on their patent. This patent is totally unenforceable. And I can honestly say with confidence that there is definitely prior art out there.

    Kodak is sinking and needs management change.

    It is fair to say that all the pirated versions of windows in china and south east Asia infected with a virus can easily overwhelm any network.

    He might have been inspired by apples Aqua Look but his work is original and in the fact that he actually created the images of penguins. Lindows on the other hand took his entire work and simply claimed it all on their own. I don't blame Lindows itself bur rather the person in their art department who is dumb enough not to seek permission. That individual needs to be fired. Did they really think no one would notice?

    Lindows should promptly compensate this gentleman. I think $500 would do it.

    You keep telling yourself that. At my company we have what we call "the interview squad." You have to go through two levels of interviews. First, they get two developers to interview you lightly about what is on your resume. If you so much has try to bullshit your way through, you'll be put at the back of the list. Generally the list consists of 5 to 10 interviewees. You'll be given a rank based on your answers. Once everyone is interviewed the top two interviewees get a second interview. Which is with the chief architect and another developer. You'll be grilled. Again, you'll be given the opportunity to bullshit and if you so much as try to do so the interview will be cut short. They are typically looking for honest answers and sometimes people tend to be too honest if you ask me. We get people that regurgitate "i don't know" one too many times" which is an absolute no-no. The best man of the two finial interviewees gets the job.

    p.s. Do you know what the manager is doing while all of this is going on? Reading Google news and Dilbert!

    That is why you break it down by proficiency. In my resume I write I am proficient in C++/Java and everything else I know, I put into "very knowledgeable" or "knowledgeable" bucket. Most of my knowledge is derived from experience so I make sure to list the projected in which I used a particular language/technology. One thing you never do is to list something that you really don't have experience in. This way, you can avoid looking like a buffoon if the subject ever arises in an interview.

    Adobe used to be at the top of the list not too long ago. Where are they now? There is one company I'd really like to work for and that is Google. The question is will Google be the same once they go public? I highly doubt it will be the same.

    Also, it takes only one scandal to take a company down the shitter.

    They are trying to extort money from people using subscription based model. What is even worse is that people are actually sympathetic towards them. I keep hearing "they have to pay for server hardware and bandwidth somehow." I call Bullshit! I the PC version of Madden 2004 and believe me, their whole online play is screwy. Any company that doesn't want you to setup your own server is not a trust worthy company.

    The system is very random in the way it hands out mod points. You really can't know who gets them but I suspect that you have a better chance if your karma is “excellent.” The only way you can get “excellent” karma is if people moderate your posts as insightful and interesting, or informative. I’ve never actually done meta-moderation but once or twice. It is kind of a pain in the ass and I don’t have the patience for it.

    They are successful in the sense that they take sides in a complaint and demand that problems be remedied. The problem is, everyone can appeal and that process takes forever. Usually countries settle their differences amicably but in the case of US steal the EU actually took steps to levy heavy duty on some US imports with the support of WTO.

    p.s. I get mod points on a weekly basis and I never manage to use them all. Oh and your chance will be better if your karma is excellent.

    China is so full of shit. They signed up for WTO membership which means they can't do things like this. I'm sure the Korean government will file a complaint with the WTO.

    I have no secrets - I do, however, have sensitive information such as usernames and passwords sent to my email. So long as google isn't giving away my sensitive data to third party customers or the government without my knowledge and consent I'll be happy with their email service. I don't mind if they want to offer me cheap plane ticket every time the word flight is in one of my emails. If the ads are intrusive I'll be sure to leave them and find a service that is more acceptable to me.
