    Personally, I'm holding out on the iPod until HFS+ works in Linux. It's kind of a disgrace to buy a PC iPod for use on a mac.

    it actually started on the early Apple computers as Open Apple and Closed Apple then moved to Command for the ADB(Apple Desktop Bus) keyboards of the macintoshes.

    As for Linux support, the command keys on my Linux iBook work the same way as the winshit key (whiteouted of course) on my Linux server.

    It looks as if he is connecting this typewriter to an older (pre usb switchover) macintosh, but I haven't found a specific quote to that effect.

    But I can refuse to boot OS X for anything but gammes!

    I would use OS X regularly if it had Linux's virtual terminal support and coult run an X server on one terminal and Aqua on another. With a package solution equivalent to Debian GNU/Linux.

    Fink and the rest have potential, but aren't ready for general use. Maybe Debian GNU/Darwin will be released someday with all the goodies that I want. Until then though, it will be Linux for anything serious.

    At my site I wrote a php script that accesses fortune. For a custom-reader, (also on the site for winshit and macintosh; Linux has fortune on its own :) I added "comment tags" around the fortune ittself that my client can parse out. A site I host wrote a similar client(tbr) for google's "did you mean" function.

    I am wondering if a "reader" project will ever employ similar technology? It would be a lot easier if frames were still popular. The difficult part would be getting parser routines that adapt to unkown sites, but ones could easily be written for slashdot, freshmeat, etc.

    I've heard the same damn "Just Because" explanations forever! I downloaded a quite lengthy explanation of Tensor Calculus to my Zaurus.

    What I was really asking is if anyone knew the basis for these theories.

    By that same argument if I am traveling at c toward Earth, Earth gains infinite mass and the gravitational pull drags me toward it even faster!

    What c is relative to? When we say that a car is moving at 60mph we meann relative to the ground, but what is c relative to?

    If it's relative to a "given thing" then doesn't that hint toward Ether theory? The further we go in AP Physics the more I realise that my school is imprepared to answer anything that comes up and that modern theories (String theory and the like) seem reminescant of the old ones like Ether theory.
