So you needed to replace your setup because the backup software was no longer supported by the manufacturer...

And you replaced it with a setup running Windows NT...software that is hitting it's EOF this year (I think).

I find that somewhat amusing. I know it's not the same thing, as the OS can be changed, but it still seems kinda silly.

As both a TimeWarner and DynDNS.org customer, I agree. Static IP's are overrated. My "dynamic" IP hasn't changed since I started running my server a month ago. I have the dynamic IP daemon running, but I'm not even sure if it's working or not, because the IP hasn't changed yet! I've even see the cable modem lose it's connection (happens every once in a while), reconnect, and still use the same IP.

Does someone know the cost of UPS's "WorldShip" application? I don't know if this is developed in-house or not, but I would guess they want everyone to use it and this is why they won't help the competition. The most likely reasons being so everyone has to pay for it or to keep it consistent. I would guess the former....

That said, I've had to deal with both installing it, and to a limited degree, using it. It feels like a poorly written VB app. Very amatuerish and unprofessional, IMO. And this is their "global" solution.

Please explain this $50/month bill for:
    900/unlimited
    + free LD
    + 2 extra lines

all from US Cellular... I have US Cellular and even AFTER switching to a new plan, I'm getting 700/3000, free LD, +1 extra line for something like $70 after tax.

So if you could give me some more details, it could be very beneficial to me... Thanks.

You haven't done your research. It costs MORE PER EXECUTION than it does to keep a single inmate in prison for LIFE. I can't remember exactly, but I think this is due to the exponential amount of time spent in court, etc, when you're on death row.

I'm not going to argue your other point, but this cost issue is something that the pro-capital punishment folks are wrong about, more often than not.

My girlfriend works for a big, nation-wide company. We use email to communicate. I've recently discovered that if I send her an email witht the words "fuck", "shit", "ass", (based on testing just those words) and who knows what else, it will never be seen by her. Now the REALLY irritating part of this is that the employees have ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF KNOWING THAT THEIR INCOMING MAIL HAS BEEN DELETED! So this leads to about ever third message being "Hey, did you get my last email?" Having worked in IT, I can't believe that they filter messages, with no notice, based on SINGLE WORDS. What happens when an exec gets a little excited and sends someone an email like:

"You bet your ass we're gonna break the profit record for Q3!"

and that message never gets delivered, without any notice whatsoever to either party...
