Not defending Lucas here, but it's WIDELY known that Fortress was one of the main influences before and during creation of SW. It's no secret that he borrowed plenty of techniques from it. Sure, it has a princess and two comic reliefs, screen wipes, etc. Not like that hasn't been done before.
Get off the "bash Lucas" bandwagon. The guy just likes to make films and money. What the hell is wrong with that?
Either you:
A) Loved the first and will love the second.
B) Hated the first and will hate the second.
or C) Didn't play the first and will probably not play the second.
But the bottom line is this: Halo is beautifully executed on the xbox, and is great fun for those who've not seen anything like it before. It's solid as a FPS because it gets all the fundamentals right. The problem is that once you've gotten that taste of what a FPS is when it's well done, you begin to look elsewhere for something more.
From all accounts so far, Halo 2 doesn't bring that "something more" to the table. This is why it fails in the eyes of those who have experienced both.
Seriously though, I caught the movie a couple nights ago and I was blown away. Pixar just gets better and better. The movie was just enough of a bold stroke away from what they've done previous.
If you are out to catch this film, be sure not to leave for the bathroom!
that photo capability as a secondary feature is just about worthless. Pretty soon, I'll have a phone that surfs the web, plays games, takes photos, cooks dinner, plays mp3s, wavs, oggs, avis, mpegs, and can predict the weather. None of which I'll be using since my ipod will do that anyways.
You don't know how close you are to reality.
One of the upcoming Binal-Tech (Takara)/Alternator (Hasbro) Transformers is rumored to be a Dodge Neon.
Time to break out that lipstick!!
Before pen and paper, what did you have?
Rock and...well...rock. They sure as hell didn't use cursive back then.
The typewriter/computer was the next logical step for the tools used to convey thoughts into a different form, as was the pen and paper.
You sure don't see many people complaining that nobody knows how to chisel, do you? Sure, there are people that do it. It's their job, their hobby, etc. But odds are, they didn't raise a stink about it.
Face it, cursive was a method used in the past which worked well for what it was needed. We just don't need it anymore.
I'd say First Post, but it probably isn't so...

So what I will say is that this has got to be one of the most confusing, yet clear topics I've read on/. in a long time.
All of this money that they're wasting could go to feed all of the starving programmers......oh wait, I figured it out now. This is where they're SENDING the starving programmers.
I understand what you're saying, however, your original comments were that the solution would be to open-source the software. Discussions have been made, both online, and in person at a summit of sorts as to porting the Kaillera client code to both Mac and *nix. Currently, the server is available in Windows, BSD, and Linux flavors. It's not like there hasn't been any porting done...in fact, having those ports alone makes Kaillera more friendly to the public than most pieces of software.
Your implication that we "avoid" the Mac isn't true. We respect the Mac platform for what it is. The topic causes no angst or defensiveness on our parts; Kaillera can hold its own.

Actually, this would be a "no-click" feature in linux. +1 for nobs!
it just chooses to ignore it.
Too bad 5 is the mod limit, this deserves a +10 Funny.
