Any of the Necroscope series. Also, Orson Scott Card with the Ender's Game series. Melanie Rawn with her Dragon Prince and Star Scroll series. Also the Ruins of Ambrai. Raymond E. Feist. David Eddings, especally his latest one, the Redemption of Althalus.
Dude I am all about this thing. I am a little worried aobut the 2 MB and there is not a shot of how big it will actually be, but I think I am going to get this. I am also a big fan of Fossil watches anyway so this is just the thing.
Well, the prevailing thought is that 64-bit architechture is going to be the standard in all desktop use in the next 5-7 years. But first we need to have a trickling down of the software from high to low-end. Also, 64-bit can handle a march larger load than 32-bit, so it is and ideal for high-end servers that handle hundreds of thousands of requests a day, which is what HP is selling here.
or does it seem like Red Hat is kinda moving away from the little guy, getting Linux on the desktop effort, screw big corporate culture movement? I always thought Linux companies were supposed to be a little more rebellious and distrusting of big companies. But then again, this deal is what a lot of Liunux companies want, is to make money on superior technical expertise, not on super expensive software that is not free(as in speech).

But that is the joy of Open Source, at least theoreticly. If package A is no longer working, becuase of the new library, and it needs the older library, then someone who is good at programming will hopefully fix the bugs so package will now A will now work with package B v4.0.

Agreed, but I don't think that a little realism can hurt when one is trying to suspend disbeleif. Really rediculus physics just insults us, it does not do us any favors for entertainment if we are looking a way to go somewhere else for a while. Generally good physics allow for greater belief in the unbelievable. Remeber, the greatest lies are the ones that contain a part of truth.
That is one of the main things I am hoping for with this, is that people will start writing games for linux now, or at least porting them. Office apps are all right on Lindows. I think if the Lindows people get smart they will start getting it ready as a home entertainment center, with games, audio, and good DVD support.
Dude, it does not matter if Lindows if really ready or not, Walmart says it is how one uses a computer. Walmart is a 800 ton gorilla. This is a huge day for linux. So many people will be exposd to this. So many kids who otherwise would not be exposed to a truly powerful, Unix-like OS are now going to get it for $600. This is so awesome.
I disagree, lots of people who are beginners would not know where to begin when trying to use PHP or MySQL. The documentation is great if you already have a basic understanding of what is going on, otherwise it is like Latin to y ou. Examples of what can be done lets you see why certain things are set up the way they are for a given language.
But just actual letters onc a twice a month would help. I just got back fomr my first year of college and it was very exciting and scary at the same time and hearing form people back home was one of the best things. Also, a book on stupid bar/ party tricks would be great. I impressed many a group of girls with some stupid magic tricks with beer bottles and even got offered a bid to join a fraternity because I had so many girls taking me around to parties to do those tricks. Really good Ice breakers.

Did I take the red pill?

I could connect home devices for cheap with this, without having to lay a lot of wires throughout the house.
I'd amigine it could be with a little bit of work.
I am drooling, I want one. Now. But how much does it cost? Plz, Dear God, it is not one of those cases of "If you have to ask, its too mcuh." is it?

Kinda like the book that expained how the physucs of the X-Men might work or how Star Trek would work.
But remember, the people that will buy these machines are not that technicly savvy. They would not know how to install windows on anything.

That might be fun to play with, beings as I was not even around when those things were "popular".

I like how they pull numbers like 950 million out of their butts.
I am just wondering the cultural obsession that the Japanese have with rail systms, if any one has an answer.
There is too much moola to be lost if no one does.
