Unlike BlueYonder (which I use too) the cheaper ISPs generally have a download cap. Plus, if they are ADSL based you need to add the cost of BT line rental.
Now what happens when/if Telewest merge with NTL will be interesting. IIRC NTL currently has a 1GB per day cap.
You know,.Z80 is a very poor format for preserving old stuff (IIRC.Z80 is a simple memory/state dump). Better is to use something like TZX which preserves the original tape loading screens etc.
P.S. it's often quite hard to emulate certain hardware in software, especially if it involves analogue stuff, which I believe the Speccies AY audio chip did.
The biggest problem I run into with tech support is the huge amount of rules and regulations the call center people have to follow. Instead of me calling up Gateway and saying "Hey my modem is fried, I know what I'm doing with computers, send me a new one" I have to go through an hour of pointless troubleshooting. For a $5 part with $3 shipping they should just send me the part.
And I still don't feel confident that it is giving me the correct results...
Me neither. There have been many times where I know for a fact that a certain string is present in a file but search doesn't find it. And yes, I have removed all the crap so it looks like the W2K version. And I hate the way it looks inside ZIP files. For a good free search program I recommend Agent Ransack: http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/
My favorite is the old lady who, when asked to produce her, pulled out one she had had for a long time (and, being issued by Dutch authorities might even still be technically valid), with her name, her picture... and a 6-pointed star with the work "JOOD" (Jew) stamped prominently across the document.
This is a good example why we should not have ID cards. Have people forgotten the lessons of history?
I had to do this for 680x0 Linux. As a starting point I had a dump of some Atari guys root partition so I could at least boot into a working shell, but it was extremely out of date (libc was (c) Noah). Taught me a great deal. But these days I couldn't be bothered with all that crap...
There's plenty of Amiga users still out there with similar spec Amigas running IBrowse. IIRC IBrowse works pretty well on a '030. Only used is on a whopping 50MHz '060 myself (where playing mp3s only took 50% CPU power!).
Telewest already block incoming (maybe outgoing) connections to Windows NetBIOS ports. It shouldn't be too hard for them to add port 25 too.
I am a Telewest customer, but I do not use their mail services (MS Exchange!!!) so this would affect me. However, my email provider allows me to connect to an alternative port (IIRC 2525). I believe this is quite common. GMail uses some non-standard port too.
BTW, Telewest is probably one of the best ISPs in the UK. Reasonably priced and they have no bandwidth caps, which unfortunately seems to becomming the trend these days with UK ISPs.
Is that you Mr Bush?

I'm looking forward to the day when most menial, dangerous and physically wearing work can be automated.
...and we'll be living in Caves of Steel.
They better make sure they build in those 3 laws...

Did you try reinstalling Windows?
You've got magic beans for sale? WOW! How much? I'll pay 1 million Linden Bucks!
For Windows: Media Player Classic + FFDShow (ffmpeg based) plays pretty much everything. Both are open source.

In the UK I'm pretty sure it's not illegal, rather unlawful. i.e. a civil matter, not a criminal.
Depends what you use the printer for. I doubt I print 500 pages per year...
Aren't the carts supplied with printers normally of smaller capacity?

Come on - admit it!

Sounds just like my iPaq. You need a Torx (sp?) screwdriver to get to where the battery lives.
...and all those Amiga users ;-)
Oh come on, it's obviously a Viper Mark VII. Compare the image with the one on http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/ships/

We use it to program our Vaxs!
I'm guessing it's more to do with reading the other CPUs cache rather than reading its registers.
Please don't insult yaks that way. They have feelings too.
Looks like they could do with a decent firewall to keep out intruders. Can anyone recommend a good one?
Yep, my firewall logs can confirm this.

When I was in Shanghai last year I had no problems - we had a VPN connection to our Geneva office.
