  1. In a nutshell on Distribution of Wealth in a Robot-Driven World · · Score: 0, Troll

This guys solution to the problem is to introduce what he calls "extreme" taxes on the uber wealthy, re-introducting the money back to the public and the people who "earned" it.

Isn't this called socialism and hasn't it been proven by such great welfare states as France to be a complete disaster for the ecnomy that adopts it?

So, robots take over most jobs and our solution is to become a bloated welfare state that makes Europe look tame by comparison?

Next wack job with an economic theory please..

  2. Re:You know, it's funny on SuSE CEO's Two-Distro World · · Score: 1

I was a dedicated SuSE user until YaST started to flake out for me and several other users. It was then that I discovered SuSE offers almost *NO* support for the distro outside the paid channel. Instead of a forum they deliberately make it more difficult and stick to a mail-list that for the most part is useless. I'm not slamming them for charging for support, but it's something that people need to be aware of. It's an amazing distro, one of the best, until you try to go outside what they offer or you have some kind of major problem. Gentoo looks like what I'm really looking for, but the install appears to be slightly more involved.

  3. Nice, but lets talk details.. on gDesklets - Gnome2's Karamba · · Score: 5, Insightful

Good to know Gnome is going to have something along the same line as KDE. Having said that however, I'm wondering if the Gnome community can match the number of Karamba plug-ins out there, some of which really do look good (www.kde-look.org) Also, before slamming Karamba for being "an ugly hack", I'd love for them to explain A.) Why they think this is so and B.) Why their version is going to be so much better. I mean, a good explanation might go a long way in converting people over who use KDE just for Karamba (and they are out there).

Do you know how many times I've actually even SEEN an in-game movie in the almost YEAR I've been playing NWN on the PC?

    Once, MAYBE twice.

NO ONE USES the ability to put them in a game. With the exception of Bioware and their 2 minute intro you won't miss much. This rage over the lack of a movie player is stupid and juvenile. If you're looking for something to be pissed-off about (wait, of course you are, this is about a Linux port) then be mad because the promised port is almost a year late. I agree that they not only dropped but buried the ball on that one.

After reading some of the complaints and general bitcheness that comes out of the Linux community (and I belong to both the Linux and PC communities) I can totally understand why NO developer would even bother porting something over to Linux in the future.

Talk about petulant children. Shit happens, deal with it or go cry to your mommy.

This guy acts like an ass all the time apparently. If you consider that he's trying to make money with his software you soon realize he's cheesed because this other guy came in and scooped him and the other sleeping beauties on several features. Where they came from really isn't important, they fact he did it in record time without co-towing to them is what set him off more than anything else. More power to those who innovate and actually get something done rather than talking about it forever. If the other guys can out innovate/feature this guy's client then I'd support them; it's all about the best working client. So slap a tampon between your legs, stop crying like a woman and get busy guys.

Along those same lines, can we ever expect a return to this universe say with a third novel in the "Trees" series? I know that at one time you were working on another sequel.. Slow down there. You seem a tad bit rabid. The point is the treaty has a chilling effect on possible future colonization by ANY country. The US is just one country that might have an interest in seeing it go bye-bye. Personally, I don't see any reason why the US *should* stay in this treaty. It clearly, and legally, gives us a way out that would allow US citizens to claim land rights on these other bodies. Any other nation is welcome to join us, it's not like we are saying "Well, it's ALL ours now just because we can see it in the sky or land junk on it!" No, the point is that if you can establish a colony on another planet, those people should have the right to choose whatever form of government they wish, including becoming another US state should they desire it (or a member of the British Commonwealth, etc).
