Who them what? Why didn't you buy the Sonic the Hedgehog Grammar and Complete Sentence Checker? It is pretty cool to watch as Sonic screams over your paper highlighting incomplete thoughts.
Is real. I red about it somewhere else too. I think it is naive for Nintendo to think that putting posters and crap in the stores is going to hurt thier sales. The video gaming public is aware enough of the X-Box, and like most gamers, are intruiged about it.
If I was in the market for a game system right now, it wouldn't be a N64. Rather, I'd wait to see what the X-Box and Game Cube can do. Then I would make my decision. Gamers are smart... putting a poster in a store is not going to sway them. They will make the choice based on what they feel to be the best after they evaluate the competition.
It sounds to me like Nintendo is getting worried, but lets not turn this into a Microsoft bash.
No, it indicates that the market has absolutely no desire to own this stock. If there was demand, they would still be going public. If you think otherwise, your dumber than your post suggests.
Anyone have any proof that TL actually makes a profit as all the zealots say? Since they are not a public company, they have no regulatory requirement to produce audited financial statements...
Yep, just another post defending Linux... no mater what the news, it can always be twisted to make Linux look like a concerned, responsible company...
Huh? You think that someone who was considering a server from VD Linux is going to build one of these shit boxes instead? I am certain the load handling will be comparable, right?
No, I am sure other socialist idiots find it wrong as well. Think of the taxes paid by MSFT employees... imagine MSFT gave everything away... what would be the financial impact of that? Billions and billions I am sure... everyone form the local car dealer, real estate agents, restaurant owners, and on and on would be out of business... but thats ok.
Pressure cities out of their tax money? Or pressure them to pay for something they purchased? The fault really lies with the city, not MSFT. If they could produce the licenses for what they purchased, there wouldn't have ben a problem... would your stance be any different if it was Ford, or maybe Coke looking ofr payment?
Get off you high horse. The city made the decision to use MSFT products, so they need to live with it.
Care to comment on the several billion dollars Mr. Gates has given to charity?
Couldn't agree more. The clown joins a protest because
"After explaining who I was and dropping two or three names, he pulled his face close and whispered that he needed support people, and more importantly, people willing to get arrested."
so, it was your agreed intent to be arrested. Thats what your worthless ass wanted. You were. What is the problem?
I live in South Jersey, and much of the protestos activities were shown on the boob tube. They (the protestors) were quite often violent and unruly. The Philly cops have received nothing but Kudos for the way te handled the protestors.
To be quite honest, the large majority of the protestors looked like they were 60's wannabe's. More interested in casing trouble than doing anything productive.Looked like freaks, acted like untamed freaks, and got what they deserved.
Might be the worst, but c'mon, how many quarters did you pump into it? To me, that was the game you played because everyone crowded around the damn thing and you wanted to show em how good you were:) When it first came out, there must have been 20 people standing around the thing. In fact, that ws the first game I remeber to have an additional monitor on top of the box so more peeps could see it.
Anyhow, Don Bluth is the guy who did the animation. He now has his own software company and is working on a 3D version of Dragons Lair.
Can we assume CmrTaco feels any article that is pro Linux or doesn't bad mouth Linux is fair, and any article that sheds a negative light on Linux is unfair?
Your an editor, report the news, dont decide for the/. lemmings what is and isn't fair.
Too bad you couldn't:) He recomended "for MicroSoft to GPL" . I made the arguement that they would never agree to do that, for they would become another company... a commodity if you will. That is much different from saying the courts make them GPL their code. Can you see the point now?:)
Further, the courts could never get away with forcing a company to completely abandon their industry. Kinda scary if they could though. It would be like saying Coke has to give away their formula so everyone can make Coke, but Coke can still provide support for fountain service:) (and dont think Coke doesn't pay off supermarkets for those isle caps:)
Not exactly the type of business model that would generate the same revenue/profits. After all, MSFT now has something that no one else has (85%-90% share of the desktop market.). However, anyone and their retarded cousin can offer support and development. If MSFT when down this road, they would be just another company.
Maybe then can find some companies that are packaging and distributing opensource code, cause we all know how profitable that business model can be.
Or maybe they can find a company that provides support for Linux (even though the only people that use Linux rarely need support), cause we all know how profitable that business model can be.
And if they could find one that did both, boy, that would be great!
Redhat will be trading at $4 a share in 6 months. Dump it now.
"Whatever you think of the Napster flap, this is bad news for the idea of a barrier-free Internet."
Since when is the protection of copyrigted material bad for anything? The internet is a means of communication and sharing. It was not intended to allow you to skirt the law.
That being said, where the hell did I put my zip with my Moby MP3's?
There have been hundreds of "wars" since WW2. Have you forgotten some of the bigger skirmishes like Korea and Nam? How about all the border wars in the middle east and Africa? Desert Storm, Faulkland Islands, on and on...
To ask if we are through with war when we have never stopped fighting, and because we are human, never will, is silly.
I am curious, what exactly looked like fun from the screen shot? As far as porting goes, it looks like this game could be ported to an old Casio watch.
Why would Verant open source code that they are dependant upon to survive? They don't want their playing base leaving a going to a free server.
Wise up, some compnaies invest millions in thier products and are entittled to reap the benefits. You want EQ open sourced? Create a new game, and do what you will with it.
Don't expect everyone to have your same jaded ideology as it pertains to intellectual property.
Why? Slashdot is News for Nerds. Stuff that matters. Not everything has to relate to Linux... and who modded that shit post up?

Anyone remember a little nut called Ross Perot? Did the same thing to Bush (Sr).
Sucks when its your side, eh?
Really? All he did was summarize Steven Poole's work. Could have just left a link.
Typical Katz Slop.

Simulation, to be even remotely believable needs a hell of a lot more than pure processing power.
So, the answer is no.

How is what ZD is doing any different than what /. is doing? Both posting articles that they know will get all the OS nuts up in arms.

"Anyone got better uptime?"
My Magnavox Oddossey has been up since '74.
Why leave it on, and who cares about uptime on a console game system? You serving web pages from it or something?
"Yet RMBS is over $300"
Yep, much like every Linux related stock out there... little revenue, poor business models, yet astronomical market caps.
Go Figure.
