It protects from radiation POISONING, not radiation exposure. Unless you are willing to wear a couple feet thick concrete vest, you will be exposed to harmful radiation. The best method to mitigate it, is to limit exposure (see how workers of Chernobyl cleaned the roof of the reactor, good read).
In a dirty bomb, I am much more afraid of the radioactive dust (plutoium is SO bad for you... Cobalt-60 IDK) thanb radioactivity by itself. I can always go to my basement survival room for a couple day and be rescued, but it lacks fine particle filtering.

I know it is discrimination, but after recruiting/training three (3!!!) women in a row than went to leave for children in a row, we decided to split the job evenly between existing dedicated team members. Overtime is cheap compared to benefits to an employee you just trained and is not productive yet. Small company here, but we've been burned.
Over packaging is the real problem, not the customer bags to carry them. This whole thing is engineered to make profit whjile making us feel guilty about our habits.
In the meantime, let's all buy plastic bags for our little trash cans instead of giving a second life to grocery shopping bags. And let's forget the fact we can make 100% organic plastic bags from cellulose that decompose nicely in natrure.
Or inside the tyres, or the gas tank... those two should be outlawed too. Also hammers COULD be used to kill people, or any other tools for that matter.
But only the US citizens let their governments spends billions of their own money on it to target them without doing a thing about it. Land of the free... not! Land of the brave, not!
