And that is the way it should be. Bands should be propped up for any reason. They should get by on talent alone. With out the RIAA in there that is the way it works. I know several indie bands that started small and grew on talent alone.
I know the bands that don't suck also tend to turn out better music time after time. Where bands with RIAA labels usually have one good cd then the rest blow monkey shit. Nickelback was a good example. They had a few good songs on the first cd while the second CD sucked a mules ass. Maybe one song on the first cd, wish I could remember what it was.
I give you Bjork as a prefect example of propped shit. She bites the big chud but she is still there barfing up CD after CD of the same crap. Perfect example of RIAA propped shit. Now I humbly wait to get flamed by some fucked Bjork fan. I'm sure he is around here somewhere.
Agreed. If the local radio stations dumped the RIAA labels and started featuring more local talent, that would be nice. Win-Win for everyone. The radio station gets to tell the riaa to piss off. Local talent gets more air time and more independed cd sales. I know a number of local bands that make most of their money off of CD's they make themselves and sell at their gigs. From what I understand it isn't chump change ether.
But by far the best part is the RIAA gets a nice kick in the balls.
I was one of those people that wanted vista. I wanted it so bad I could taste it. I saw a picture of it in a magazine and read some of the good shit it could do, love at first site. I don't remember when or what it was that triggered the WTF moment but it had to be bad. It made ME start thinking about getting a mac.
Oh well, mickysoft needs to remember that no matter how many times you polish a turd, it's still a turd.
Why does it have be a carrier battlegroup? If you think about it anything big enough to carry the fucking thing will do. How about a destroyer or cruser. Hell, a fucking fishing boat would do if it was big enough.
Yes, it had a better safty record than the shuttle but also only had a few launches. What would you think would have happened if fired off as many apollo's we've done shuttles?
If you think about it that way the space shuttle is much more safer than apollo when you think of falures. There has been 120 shuttle launchs with 118 successful. That is a 98% success rate.
There was 7 apollo launchs with 6 being successful. That is a 85% success rate. But to be fair no one died on apollo 13.
I almost never call support for anything. Most of the time I know more about the problem than the fucker at the hell desk. The last time I called tech support with anything was a year ago. I had researched the problem on the net and went through all the steps found there. I finally gave up and called support.
The monkey on support started his script and I started going through the hoops. I though it sounded familar so I did some back tracking in my browser. I found out the fucker was reading off the same fucking scripted page that I had used 2 hours ago. To make it worse when I told him this he just simply ignored me and kept on going. After about 5 more minutes I just hung up the phone. The monkey on the other end was just as clueless as I was so why waste my time and his.
Some else tell me that I'm not the only one this drives fucking crazy. "You can transmit 4 billion libraries of congress a second" What the fuck does that mean? How much is a fucking library of congress? I know its a god damn shit load but shit. When they say that I still have very little fucking clue how much it really is.
That is the real answer isn't it? Current technology is just so wasteful. Only 6% of the energy in a modern automobile goes to moving your ass down the road. The rest is wasted as heat and other shit.
There are dumbasses in every movement. I was debating a bunch of hippies about nuclear option. They brought up the waste problem and someone on my team was saying why don't we shoot it in to the sun. Which by the way is not a good option at all. But what floored me was the hippie response. They actually said that by shooting all that nuclear waste into the sun we could upset the sun. There is no telling what it would do to it.
I was stunned. I didn't think any one could be that stupid. I was wrong, boy was I wrong.
One of the problems that is see is people are counting on one source to provide all the nations energy needs. I doubt that is going to be the case. More likely its going to be a combination of several. Wind may yield say 15%, solar 15%, nuclear 40%, and biomass 30%, but when you add them up what do you get? (Yeah, I pulled those numbers right out of my ass but its just to prove a point)
I've even left out some sources such as wave, tides, and geothermal. There are plenty of renewable sources out there, we just have to bring them all together.
Then you haven't done enough research on the subject. By putting the shit in subduction zones we are dropping the waste, at least, two or three miles below ocean floor. The most important thing is you are getting the waste out of the biosphere. Something that current waste storage faclities do. Even yuctan mountain doesn't do that.
subduction zones are the best way to do it and it's in, almost, easy reach of today's technology.
This rebate bullshit was one of the reasons I stopped buying shit at compusa. I bought a shit load of crap to build a system, including a 1000 for my first 19" lcd. Grand total of about 2,000 bucks. I had over 300 bucks worth of rebates coming to me. I got ziltch, butkuss, the big fuck off.
Yeah, They did not have any multi-tasking salesmen. A good salesman can serve a number of clients in a spread time mode. People actually like this compared to having a salesman fawning over them.
Tell me about it. When I was a sales droid at electronic boutique I demonstrate a C64, restock shelves, and ring up a box of floppy disks at the same time. And that was with my pants on. With them off I could do all that and, well, we won't go into that. The image is two disturbing.
I remember how confused my figures where when I moved from my C-64 to my Amiga. The concept of point and shoot was just weird.
I can't for the life of me remember what that key was. CBM/RUN Stop sounds right. I guarantee you that you set me in front of a brown c64 with a fast load cart. and my fingers will remember it.
In addition to building a very good 8bit computer they also had excellent documents. I'm of course referencing the C=64 programmers reference manual. Everything you needed to know about the C64 was in that book. Spiral bound too so you could lay it flat and read it while keeping both hands on the keyboard. No self respecting c64 hacker could call himself that without at least one copy of that book. I still have mine around here somewhere.
That hamster reset switch was the first hack most people installed on the C64. I had two, one of the old brown ones and later one of the "new" white ones. My brown one was a mess of hacks and finally gave it up. The white one, void the warranty on 5 mins out of the box.
What where those patch disks called? Cracker Jacks. Remember those?
And you know, no matter how cool your C64 system was there was always some mother fucker out there with a hacked system to make yours look like shit. Dave was our master. My system was pretty cool but his was awesome. He had 4 disk drives on his with switches where he could change the drive numbers in hard ware. He also has a fuck ton of custom boot loaders and shit he wrote himself.
What a lot of people don't know about the 1541 was it was really a mini computer in itself. Dave had his set up that he could drop a disk in one and a blank in the other. The copying would start and he could turn off his c64 and the disks would copy themselves.
LOAD "*",8,1... That command is still a reflex action for me. I didn't remember it but my fingers did.
The 1541 a loaf that was sure. The next one up the chain, 1571?, wasn't much better. I had all the hacks on my C-64. Home wired reset button. Remember that? I had the fast loader from epyx. Not that it really did any good. There was even a cart called Icepick, I believe. Best friend for a c-64 pirate. Just push a button and it would dump the image in ram to a floppy disk.
About 10 years after I moved on from the c64 I looked back on the market for it. There where cpu accelerators that made the fucker run at a wopping 4 mhz. There was 10 mb harddrives for it. There where even 1 mb ram expanders.
Do I miss it? Yeah. Would I want to go back? Fuck no!
Ahh, the old TI-99 4/A with extended basic. Dating myself here but I remember those days well. Back then you didn't just go out and buy a game. If you wanted it, you wrote it. Then you traded it for other games writting by your friends or user group.
It's not in the best interest of ISP to filter content. They they lost what common carrier status they have. This will open them up for lawsuits and make them responsible for content carried over their "wires."
The MPAA and RIAA want this so they will have bigger fish to sue.
And that is the way it should be. Bands should be propped up for any reason. They should get by on talent alone. With out the RIAA in there that is the way it works. I know several indie bands that started small and grew on talent alone.

Sounds like a good enough excuse to buy a Wii to me.
I think I may have fucked this up. There was more than 7 manned apollo launches. I only counted the moon shots.
Why does it have be a carrier battlegroup? If you think about it anything big enough to carry the fucking thing will do. How about a destroyer or cruser. Hell, a fucking fishing boat would do if it was big enough.

Nope your not. I hate them with a passion.

I have little clue who this Dvorak is and really don't care but he really must suck if they are calling to ban his ass from /.

I should have sued the fuckers.

That is funny. I had a disk drive, 1541 to be exact with my C=64. I remember putting in disk and going outside to do something else while they loaded.
Ahh, the old TI-99 4/A with extended basic. Dating myself here but I remember those days well. Back then you didn't just go out and buy a game. If you wanted it, you wrote it. Then you traded it for other games writting by your friends or user group.
