Time to bring some real charges against these fuckers and send a few of them to prison for a good long stretch. And I'm not talking 6 months in a jail with 500 hours of community service. I'm talking 10 years in maximum security.

I know some people say the punishment doesn't fit the crime but I think its time it did. If we would have locked up some of them bastards from Sony then I bet this one wouldn't' happen.

I don't know much about the EVD format but I do know something about the HD-DVd and BR formats. The reason that BR and HD disks need so much space for a HD movie is they are using mpeg-2 for the video format. If they where using a modern format like mpeg-4 they wouldn't need such a big ass disk.

Doing some math I figure if they did use mpeg-4 they could fit a HD movie into about 7 to 8GB.

I think in addition the decoder might have something to do with it too. When I first hooked up my 52" HDTV to a walmart directv decoder I was disappointed too. The picture was blocky and looked like crap. Then I bought a $800 sony HD decoder, Yeah, I paid to much, and the SD channels look great.

For that price and a little more, maybe, I can buy a couple of external drives to back up with. They will be faster and I can reuse them.

When I first subscribed to it, it was to get Discovery HD and I was very impressed with it. But then they where running a lot of space and nature shows. Stuff that I'm interested in. Lately is been nothing but Big, monster garage and that chopper show. Shit I don't care for in any definition.

For the record too the shows that I compared where Hunt for Red October in HD off of showtime and the DVD. Looks like my method was flawed. Oh well, live and learn.

I think sony is going to get handed their ass on this one. Sony doesn't have a good track record when trying to release a competing standard. Betamax vs. VHS anyone? PSP against the Nintendo DS? From what I read most of the DVD manufacturing companies would rather go with HD-DVD than BR. because they don't have to reduce their manufacturing lines. They can just up grade the equipment that they make DVD's on. Where with BR they will have to buy all new equipment, buy it from Sony that is.

Another thing is if Sony is the only one manufacturing BR players that will tend to keep the price high. When the price of a HD-DVD player drops to 300 bucks and BR are still around 500 joe walmart shopper is going to buy the cheaper. As more people buy HD-DVD players the prices will continue to tumble putting HD DVD in the lead. Movie studios will abandon the BR because no one is buying it, opting to go with the cheaper and technically inferior HD-DVD. At least I think its technically inferior.

But anyway it comes right down to Sony sinking a few hundred million into a pig that can't dance. An I really have no problems with that what so ever.

You know you can have a life on friday night and still watch your geek shows. There are two devices that let you do this by recording the shows so you can watch them later.

One of them is called a V-C-R and you can pick one up at a flea market for a few bucks. They first got popular back in the '70 when people relized they could watch porn at home. Or if they had a camera they could make their own porn. (I wouldn't recommend the home made to anyone though. Its usually just 5 mins of some dude poorly focues bare ass bouncing.) It works by letting you record the show you want to watch on a very fragle tape like substance in pour quality.

The other is called a D-V-R. It works pretty much the same way as a VCR but instead of tape, it uses an expensive and fragle highly spinning disk of death. One of the best things about a dvr is after a while it will start suggesting shows for you to watch. You might find that it has better taste in TV than you do. I know mine does.

I bought a sony dvd player, big screen TV, surround sound, a camera, even this laptop I'm on right now is a sony vaio. Then I bought a sony PDA, TH-55, and it crapped out 1 day after I bought. I took it back the store that I got it from and after a week they found another one. After I replaced it, it lasted for about 6 months then it died. I sent it in for the warrenty replacement. Sony sat on it for about six months then sent it back to me saying that the battery was dammaged and the unit wasnn't covered.

AFter a few months of crawling up channels I was told to go fuck myself. I did get some satasfaction by sending the head bastards in charge of the department a box of dead road kill, since that was about the only thing I could do.

Since then I will not ever buy anything sony, nor will I recommend sony to my friends. I've even been told to leave the local tv store for telling a customer that he doesn't want to buy the 3500 sony tv he was looking at. So far if I add up all my damage that I've done telling people not to buy sony and directing them to compeating products I have cost sony about 15,000 bucks. The only problem I see is people getting caught doing it. That is why I say you dress in black with a black hood. Come over the fence from a different angle from where you live, beat the fucker with a hammer, then leave in a different direction. For even better results you can leave the battered carcase of the damn thing on his porch so he'll get the message.

If you can't get close enough to hit it with a hammer then think pellet gun. Almost completely silent, none traceable, and will do the job just fine. A shot through the speaker cone or the power supply should do it. Make sure you are a good shot though because you only want to take one shot. While they are silent they are not completely noiseless, but its almost impossible to trace the sound of a single gun shot.

As for the moral qualms, the old fucker didn't have any qualms about putting the fucker up. Sometimes violence is the only answer and morals are a thing best put on the shelf for a while.
