I don't buy music cd's anymore, haven't in 2 years. Not because I'm downloading all my music online it's because I have yet to see a CD worth 25 fucking bucks!
Now DVD are a different story. I buy about one or two DVD's a week. Why? Well because they are generally worth the 15 to 20 bucks I pay for them. Owning a 20 dollar movie on dvd still has value where at 25 bucks a cd has none.
Sad part is the sound track for a movie can cost more than the movie.
To hell with all that:) Just give me my daily half hour of Dragonball Z and everyone will be just fine. Hey, where else can a 10 min ass whoop'n get streached across 3 planets and 2 seasons?
Has anyone ever thought that they might be leaving this there on purpose? Sure they can take it out and piss off thier core group of buyers. Or they can leave it in knowing that one day it will be hacked and give the technological elete one more reason to buy tivo's.
This is my solution to annoying phone calls too. When someone wants my phone number I just give them the land lines number. Never mind that the ringer is off and I never answer that phone. Although the computer does use it and has answered it a few times. I know some people have a problem with this but I don't mind my compter talking to strangers on the phone and it seems to enjoy it.
All my real phone calls goto to my cell phone. I keep saying that, "If you don't have my cell number I don't want to talk to you." That saying keeps a lot of annoying family members away to. Most of them don't have my cell number.
I have to agree. I miss Daniel but I kind of like the new guy. I came into this season hating him before I ever seen him but he grew on me. Like a rash I guess
But the majority of the people don't want to be exposed to new music. They like thier rap, blues, or jazz just fine. And they certainly don't want to pay for the chance to be exposed to new music.
I myself, listen to ether talk radio or NPR when I'm driving. At home if I'm not listening to my CDs I put some lite jazz on the home theater that comes from directv. I already pay for satellite tv and with it comes many commercial free music channels. When I do desire something new I just find one of them.
I'm not sure how they really rate as backup media but I picked up some Memorex DVD+RW last week that stated on the box they where good for at least a 100 years. Of course I'm pretty sure that 100 years is if I wrote to the disk only once under lab. conditions. Then sealed the dvd in an argon or nitrogen containor, and then buried it deep in an abandon salt mine.
I seem to remember that the lifespan of a cdrom/dvd is about 10 years do to wear and tear on the physical disk. This is due to the handling of the disk, loading it into drive tray, and such. Personally I have music cd that are over 10 years old that play fine. I've had one CD, The Cure's distengration that lived up to is name sake and distengrated in less than 3 months. I have bought name brand cd-rw that died after a few months use but I have some Compusa no name cd-rw that I bought 4 or 5 years ago that still work great.
I guess what I'm trying to say is your mileage may vary.
Go to radio shack my friend. They have a nice fan that will fit prefectly in the place of the one on the motherboard, with a little modification that is.
I have to agree and disagree with you. While the loss of the drive is inconvenience that is not the real problem. The cost of the drive itself is nothing, what is of real value is the data on the drive.
One thing for certain these manufactures rolling back the warrenty on there drives is going to affect the way I do backups. I'm going to do them more often and check them better. I would suggest that every one reading this do the same.
I know what it's like when a loved one passes away. How it feels to find that you most loved piece of hardware has passed away. For 7 years my only computer was my trusty old Amiga 500. Even when CBM went up in flames I still went out and imported a A3000 from Canida. So I feel your pain.
It's time to let go man. Just drop it and walk away, don't look back. I said, don't look back.
If you still believe you must have all the benfits of the Amiga, get your self a nice linux box. Shoot, a nice Mac will help go through the loss.
I like that ideal. People would be more polite if someone could put a slug in them. Hell I bet that fat bitch at the bank wouldn't have busted in front of me if I was packing some heat.
Oh well. I used to work in Intergraph's advanced processor division a couple a years ago. There was this designer that laid out the clipper cache for the C3/C4 processor. Well he got grabbed up by intel a few years later. Word had it, he designed part of the pent/intn cache.
Here is how it works. I have the right to know who is calling me. You on the other hand have the right to block your phone number from showing up. Which is fine by me. Since you have the right not to show your number I have the right jus simply to not answer the phone or block anonymous calls all together.
If there is no caller id information on my cell phone, then the number won't ring. Even better is a profile I have set that if your number isn't in my phone book it won't ring.
That is what I did. I have had a my cell for 4 years now and got one telemarketing call on it. I do have a hard line at home which I listed the number in the phone book to see what would happen. I turned the ringger off and at the end of the day I would check the caller id log. Out of 50 calls in one week I would say 95% of them where telemarketers.
I have a simple rule. If you don't know my cell number, I don't want to talk to you.
Well to be truthful, if it matters, it won't really matter. If the thing is made of "nano tubes" some fucker flies a plane into it all we will do is hose it off and go right back to business.
Japanese taking over Disney. I don't know if this would be good or bad. On the one hand you might see a improvement in the quality of the stories from Disney. And the other you might see the Disnification of Japanese Anim.
I'm going to weigh in for safty sake and say it will be a bad thing. Could you imagine Cowboy Bebop ran through Disney's and brewed down for the least common denomonator? Blech. On the other hand could you imagine if Disney did get behind some of Japan's best anim studios and brougth the stories to the US screen without dumbing them down for the kiddys?
This is the first time ever seen a +5 troll...
They did tell it to you straight. They called you a thief.

Get zonealarm. It's free for personal use and blocks this shit streight from the zip file.
Isn't Maxtor already doing this? They reduced the warranty on thier low end drives and have left a 3 year warranty on thier high end.

An armed society is a polite society.
I just unloaded my Intergraph stock a month ago.
