    They only play one game over here that seriously....'Lineage', and then ofcourse the old favorite, StarQuest.

    This is just being sensationalized due to the video game hook. We've lost at least one engineer due to overwork, and that was kept out of the papers.

    Government? Is this a troll? Have you tried doing business in India in the last several years? India is stuck in such political turmoil that it will still be where it is today, ten years from now. China, on the other hand, has no such issue. (note I didn't say 'no issues')

    Look at your local dept. store and tell me how many goods say "Made In India"...then see how many say "Made In China".

    Need more?
    Check the cost of Indian programmers. You'll find that it is no longer the least expensive resource of this type on the planet.
    Sorry, but I disagree with your vision of the future. India had it's chance for the last decade, and that chance has been squandered.

    Look to North Korea for the next batch of low-cost programmers if you want to talk progressive.

    Indian programmers have been an excellent source for at least the last ten years. Problem is, everyone knows this, and as such they'be become a commodity...meaning they are no longer the least expensive of this type of resource. Since everyone is using them, the price is no longer rock bottom.

    Interestingly enough, the NBT in low-cost programming resource will be none other than North Korea. China and South Korea stand to take best advantage. Film at eleven...

    Think bigger....most homes that can afford this guy will have elevators. Home elevators have been all the rage for years in Japan.

    The subway stations in downtown Tokyo have floor cleaning robots that ride the elevators...pretty funny to see one waiting for the door to open.

    Are you talking about liscences? This is where it gets muddy...since the stats are clouded by how many MS sells to OEM's (years ahead of actual use, BTW), vs. how many the OEM's actually deploy off the assembly line. We may never know the real figures. And as for reality, how can we ever know exactly how many copies of MS have been made/used.... This kind of discussion is far too subjective to yield anything more than fervor.

Now, when the shoe is on the other foot, and Sony has all the [game] software, they seem to ignore that diatribe and wish us to look to the horizon....just wait, they say.     ...it's a marketing ploy to gain buzz on their product. Too bad the average BMW owner is much smarter than the average marketing guy/girl. BMW's sell themselves, and this kind of thrill write can only serve to cheapen the image.

    An F-1 pilot picks a gear and presses a button to launch. If he stalls, they have to run out with a laptop to reset the launch sequence. Compared to a '60 falcon with a three speed, this in an automatic transmission, me thinks.

    Wanting a 5-speed sounds a bit like you're simply not up on recent (sic) automotive tech.

    Manual shift transmissions went out long ago on high end race machines, aka F-1, as an example. Why try to enjoy an ultimate powerplant by shifting for yourself, when you'll be ignoring all that wonderful hp the engineers worked so hard to optimize. You and a manual trans cannot begin to take advantage of a modern engine. You're too slow and not connected to the car's computer. 5-speeds are old school.

    ....it's was originally called the 'kamikazi dyno', where you trick out the software and the only place you can test it is out on the street.

    Messing with software to control a car is not new, and I can think of many 'features' that could qualify as easter eggs, such as holding the pedal down on 1985 Fords with EEC-IV would shut off the injectors, resulting in a no start.
