that won't work...at least not directly as playing back CDs will also constitute a "performance," unless the copyright on the CDs that are played have expired.
The only other exception to it I can see is if the music is if the artists involved waive it for her; in other words, take a song that has no copyright and in the public domain, and perform it yourself (or with an artist who doesn't mind not getting a license fee). I guess a local college orchestra who's willing to recite a song for free or whatever and release it under a public license/copyright...perhaps under one of the free Creative Commons licenses or GPL (dunno how it would apply to music though). The key would be to make sure that the song itself (not the performance of it) is in the public domain (aka, expired copyright....which means it has to be roughly 95yrs old or older...classical music is a perfect match for this)
I wonder how a "Public Radio Station" would withstand them...fighting PRS with another PRS (fighting fire with fire).
because they got more requests than the number of unique things TinyURL or whatever can handle.
Better is to use a better way of doing AJAX other than using GET....they can use POST and make sure gzip is on.
I think if they really put their minds on it, they can also implement clientside JSON compression using some of the javascript compression libraries that are out there (or use a simple flash wrapper to do the dirty work).
Just throw a bunch of kiddies (or 21yr olds) in a room and offer them free pizza/beer whatever.....it'll get done.
no good deed goes unpunished....or in this case, no bad deed isn't followed by more bad deeds.
I wonder if it's a bit too late to do a "stop payment" on that 200 billion dollar check...(not to say that the majority of the big banks can afford even that).
don't think I need a jacket to feel the movies....shoot....my feet (technically my shoes) already feel the stick floors, my back and butt feel the crappy seats, my ears feel the pain of idiots who don't shut the hell up when the movie starts, my eyes feel the pain when watching endless amounts of advertising....all starts with my wallet feeling lighter.
besides, I'm sure there are some movies, u don't want to feel....(the new street fighter movie comes to mind)
12.5Gbps which means 1.5625GBps and the data transfer limits we have in the states here, it will take 3.2 seconds to be in overage-city. Hmmm...isn't that faster than a Porsche's or Ferrari's 0 to 60 speed?
[sarcasm]The good thing is....it'll be at least 5 years since they have it in Europe until we have it here[/sarcasm]
I thought the problem was also because of they way they did the dropping the connection (via a "reset"); they "masqueraded" as someone else which is a no-no under the law.
Here's a simple diagram:
A is downloading from B. C (Comcast/ISP) "throttles" by telling A that it's B and makes the changes that way. Essentially, a "man-in-the-middle" situation.
If Comcast was some poor sap, it would be in the federal pokey...hopefully without soap on a rope.
from the looks of it, it appears as though the State of Colorado's IT department is run by Gengis Khan....no...I don't mean the descendants of Gengis Khan....I mean Gengis Khan himself...in the flesh....or what's left of his flesh
either that or the Spartans.
The cavemen were smart enough to leave the state and do GEICO commercials.
that is funny....instead of the ol' "I know you are but what am I?" when called a moron...they go and say "I know we are"
either way, whoever configured the webserver (IIS...ewww) doesn't know how to disable verbose error reporting to prevent sensitive information from becoming public, let alone (and gawd-forbid) set up custom error pages to give a more "professional" and user-friendly error page.
maybe this will get more people to switch to linux or at the very least get more people to download the latest Ubuntu 9.x live cd (the one that supports natively supports ntfs).
wait...won't this promote piracy? because 4% on $0 is...well... $0. I guess the governor is too blind (figuratively and literally) to see that this is a bad idea. If only we can get the RIAA/MPAA to lobby against this as it promotes piracy.
I know the porn industry will be up and arms with this though.
what a waste of space. "social" data? from a MMO? my god man....I can find thousands of better reasons to use 60TBs of space and not have to use the best one of "for p0rn."
shoot...mapping the world...mapping the oceans, mountains, space, al gore's head, folding, seti, another wayback project, etc.

thought plants already cried for help when injured
and I think rocks can in a way....think piezoelectric effect.
looks like it's time to stock up on tinfoil and old reflective (mainly old aol) cds.
imagine what the govt can do if regular scientists can do this with regular lasers (not including with sharks)
now if only he would veto Jack Thompson too...the root of all evil...well...root of evil stupidity anyways.
hopefully, a "suddenoutbreakofcommonsense" tag gets added to the post.

that's what major league baseball is for!
multiply that by 6 and u'll have the right answer which also happens to be the meaning of life as well.
but without Worf.....it just ain't the same
I'd think then the fighting would be real, at least
no...I want them to "drop their soap" and well...let's just say "get a lil' friendly from the indigenous people of the federal prisons"
especially if it ain't got robots!
Battle Bots (or equiv), I can understand...and think it would be cool to see remote controlled robots fight to their deaths, let alone really fight.
for some reason, I'm not that surprised.
With SciFi airing wrestling....yes...wrestling...normal, steriod-loaded human male wrestling..no robots....
yea...my first thoughts about it were "WTF!" along with many other fellow sci-fi fans.
That and the end of two great sci-fi shows from the Stargate realm pretty much spelled the upcoming doom of the network.

why not the state Department of Education for teaching people how to read those ads?
but...
am I the only one who finds this thing a bit amusing and ironic that the name of the Sheriff who's "jumping" to conclusions is "Dart"?
maybe that's what his wife, ex-wife, and/or latest date said also...

this is what you get from colorado.
