  3. Where to find a Contract on Protecting Your Code While Allowing Source Access? · · Score: 1

Look at component developers, especially the larger ones like DevExpres. From using their stuff and purchasing the source code, I know that they have restrictions on what I can do with the Source Code provided. Modify their contract to suite yours, then you don't need a damn lawyer.

Also, be prepared to loose one programmer to the company, especially if they are happy with the product. If you are billing per hour, they will offer a job for less then they are paying. Be prepared, the programmer most seen as the asset will be the target, so keep them hidden and manage, or expose them and use as a spy.

I prefer to use contracts that I have to agree to as the bases of contracts I pass onto the customer, especially as I am web hosting reseller, the contract that binds me, binds my clients (with some additions).

European hate laws... Ya.. That's funny. Talk about a racist continent. They don't hate based on the color of skin, as is the problem in North America.

They hate based on geography, right down to the region of a country itself. They dislike immigrants to a much larger extent then even the Americans appear to (right now), and don't even get me started on religion.

With religion, they take it to an all new high. Shit, they just love to fight.

But its Europe, they make jokes about how conservative and up-tight we are... Ya... well at least I can make a racial slur (and get my ass kicked, but that's different), you can have all your tv porn, nude beaches, low sexual age of consent, and no laws against child porn.

I don't think this is a stupid patent as compared so some of the ones that have appeared on Slashdot (insert links to get +3 Insightful bonus).

Instead, this looks like a novel approach at the time, that proved to be the BEST way of allowing browsers to serve as a hub. Very clever and should be rewarded. He didn't patent a business model applied to the web, he didn't patent a process applied to the web.

Bill Gate's ignoring and arrogance is probably what set Eolas off against MS. Now its time to pay. Will he target Mozilla, I doubt it, will there be a trivial royalty payment demanded, yes, will it ever be collected or expected, no. Its MS and IE that he wishes to exclude.

Read the article, its right in there.

    RTFA!

It talked about excluding Microsoft. It said nothing about excluding the competition. His gripe is with Microsoft, since they stepped on his patent blatantly.

I also get the feeling that he hates MS, and will do anything he "legally" can to screw them. This has to be one of the best.

Hopefully Eolas is not a public company, for then they can fight this the way he wants, and not shareholders.

Imagine how expensive computers would be without it.

The environmental impact is high because the countries that are either being mined or being dumped in (China) have low or non-existent environmental controls.

Don't blame the industry when countries don't stand up to corporations. In the case of Africa and the mining there, I think a little toughness on American and other foreign corporations would go a long way. But as long as those governments are corrupt and willing to take bribes over protecting their people, such is life.

In China, the government has taken steps to help solve the mess, but it will take time. For China, I'm suprised they aren't using prisoners to forage the components... But I guess that's because they need their organs to harvest, and lead contamination lowers their value on the black market.

I really don't see the point of your post. The OS is shrinking proportionally to the amount of storage bought by the average consumer. The OS does more then it ever did (good or bad), but still leaves ample room for true bloat apps like MS Office, movies, and MP3s.

    1991 - DOS 6.22 about 5MB for the OS on a 40MB HDD
