Look at component developers, especially the larger ones like DevExpres. From using their stuff and purchasing the source code, I know that they have restrictions on what I can do with the Source Code provided. Modify their contract to suite yours, then you don't need a damn lawyer.
Also, be prepared to loose one programmer to the company, especially if they are happy with the product. If you are billing per hour, they will offer a job for less then they are paying. Be prepared, the programmer most seen as the asset will be the target, so keep them hidden and manage, or expose them and use as a spy.
I prefer to use contracts that I have to agree to as the bases of contracts I pass onto the customer, especially as I am web hosting reseller, the contract that binds me, binds my clients (with some additions).
so let me guess, you've had the same cell phone since you first went cellular...
Eventually you might only have a choice of MS SmartTalks, or a ST OS... which would kill ICQ, AOL Messenger, and other pieces of software yet to be created.
European hate laws... Ya.. That's funny. Talk about a racist continent. They don't hate based on the color of skin, as is the problem in North America.
They hate based on geography, right down to the region of a country itself. They dislike immigrants to a much larger extent then even the Americans appear to (right now), and don't even get me started on religion.
With religion, they take it to an all new high. Shit, they just love to fight.
But its Europe, they make jokes about how conservative and up-tight we are... Ya... well at least I can make a racial slur (and get my ass kicked, but that's different), you can have all your tv porn, nude beaches, low sexual age of consent, and no laws against child porn.
At least I can still say "I hate..."
There are times when I'm thankful there is an ocean between us... These are one of them.
I don't think this is a stupid patent as compared so some of the ones that have appeared on Slashdot (insert links to get +3 Insightful bonus).
Instead, this looks like a novel approach at the time, that proved to be the BEST way of allowing browsers to serve as a hub. Very clever and should be rewarded. He didn't patent a business model applied to the web, he didn't patent a process applied to the web.
Bill Gate's ignoring and arrogance is probably what set Eolas off against MS. Now its time to pay. Will he target Mozilla, I doubt it, will there be a trivial royalty payment demanded, yes, will it ever be collected or expected, no. Its MS and IE that he wishes to exclude.
It talked about excluding Microsoft. It said nothing about excluding the competition. His gripe is with Microsoft, since they stepped on his patent blatantly.
I also get the feeling that he hates MS, and will do anything he "legally" can to screw them. This has to be one of the best.
Hopefully Eolas is not a public company, for then they can fight this the way he wants, and not shareholders.
Imagine how expensive computers would be without it.
The environmental impact is high because the countries that are either being mined or being dumped in (China) have low or non-existent environmental controls.
Don't blame the industry when countries don't stand up to corporations. In the case of Africa and the mining there, I think a little toughness on American and other foreign corporations would go a long way. But as long as those governments are corrupt and willing to take bribes over protecting their people, such is life.
In China, the government has taken steps to help solve the mess, but it will take time. For China, I'm suprised they aren't using prisoners to forage the components... But I guess that's because they need their organs to harvest, and lead contamination lowers their value on the black market.
Why don't them make the next enhancement to the name?
Maybe they just should call it SMACK, or ROCKS...
Either way dude, lay off the cheap stuff for in 10 words you managed to say jack shit. Though in one regard, our politicans say hundreds of words and still say jackshit... the big difference is they usually put them in the correct order.
How about we do this as a ratio... Its later into the evening and your stats require me to think.
1991 - DOS 6.22 about 12% of HDD 1996 - Win95 about 17%of HDD 2002 - WinXPPro about 6% of HDD. 2007 - LonghornSP4 about 5% of HDD?
I really don't see the point of your post. The OS is shrinking proportionally to the amount of storage bought by the average consumer. The OS does more then it ever did (good or bad), but still leaves ample room for true bloat apps like MS Office, movies, and MP3s.
1991 - DOS 6.22 about 5MB for the OS on a 40MB HDD 1996 - Win95 about 300MB for the OS on a 1.7GB HDD 2002 - WinXPPro about 2.5GB for the OS on a 40GB HDD. 2007 - LonghornSP4 about 20GIG!? for the OS on maybe 400GB drives?
reminds me of the Goatse.cx guy...

Come on Hemos... Your breaking my balls.

Why do churches take out insurance against Acts of God? Why is the Vatican equipped with lightning rods?
Well let's see... Firstly it says "don't test thy God"...
Secondly... You think that God doesn't have his sights locked onto some of those child abusing Cardinals?
Time to re-evaluate... It might be good afterall...
So confused... Is it weekends that we like MS, or just Saturdays, or just 6-7pm EST...
Damn it...
Opening Port in Firewall now...
Incoming transfer....
Transfer Complete... 0.5 Seconds...
so let me guess, you've had the same cell phone since you first went cellular...

This should be marked as a Troll... The cost of lawsuits in this case is MUCH cheaper then switching off of MS...
