"But frankly, if you've done your advanced riding courses (yes, I have), you'll know avoidance and observation are your watchwords, and makes pretty much ALL accidents avoidable - just ask the police rider doing the course how many accidents he's had for proof."
You can't ask the ones that have been in accidents. They're all dead, due to the high fatality rate of motorcycle accidents.
I hear good things about MythTV. But since I have no firsthand experience with it, I couldn't recommend it. I've already spent my money on the ReplayTV, so I don't really have the money to try all the other products.
I'm not sure why I have to offer an alternative in order to have a valid opinion. If I buy a bad Ford, do I have to endorse Chevy in order to share my experience?
"I don't think they are manufacturing them anymore... just selling the rest of their warehouse."
Rumor? Proof?

Oh, so you recommend the other DVR that *does* have auto-commercial-skip? Oh, wait, there isn't one.
Oh wait, there is after all... ReplayTV model 5040... also no longer manufacturered
Yeah, I don't think negative word-of-mouth helps either. Thanks.
You're right, they lost my endorsement when they disabled my auto-commercial-skip hack, manual commercial skip is lame.
Because the "word of mouth" advertising model has a pretty poor chance of ever reaching the masses. And no one wants to try one out to the tune of $100 + monthly service without a pretty good recommendation.
I own 2 5504 replaytvs, and I can't imagine not having them. but, I was pretty mad when they disabled my auto-commercial-skip that I enabled with the easy registry hack. That alone made me not want to recommend them to my friends anymore. I don't think they are manufacturing them anymore... just selling the rest of their warehouse.
Every other DVD I've tried has worked with my current build of XBMC. I just assumed it was some special type of DRM. I may borrow the DVD again and see if it will work with a new build next time I upgrade to the latest version.
I was loaned a DVD of the movie "Hitch" from a neighbor last weekend. I tried to pop the movie into my xbox (XBMC rules!!!) to watch it. But for some reason it wouldn't play because of some type of DRM.
Since my wife and I didn't want to sit at my computer to watch the whole movie, I ripped the movie to my hard drive and encoded an xvid video (AutoGK rules too!). We enjoyed watching the movie on my xbox, and now I have a copy I can watch again any time we feel like it.
I enjoy the humor in the fact that I wouldn't have ripped a copy if there were no DRM to begin with.
Evidently the statistic is deceiving though. As I understand it now, it's 75% of all the 9th circuit decisions that the supreme court actually reviews are overturned. Not 75% of the total 9th circuit decisions.
There's some good effects of the high cost of gas, some not so good.
for instance, I have heard of people cutting out their catalytic converters because it helps increase gas mileage. I'm not arguing that it actually helps or not, just telling what I've heard.
I have read the entire bible, but that is irrelevant. This discussion was about GTA, and YOU were the first one to lash out at religion. I decided I would take a hit to my "karma" to point that out.
I'm still not sure why you have such hatred and bigotry toward religion, especially when all you can do is point out their "intollerance". Spout your "turn the other cheek" bullcrap while you provoke a fight.
Christians are still human, and faulting them for being so is ridiculous. First, you don't believe anything they say, and then you hold them to an standard of perfection. Of course they won't live up to it. Only one man has ever lived up to that standard, and mankind killed him for it anyway.
The bible is a compilation of books, written for instruction to God's people... Instructions profitable/meaningful throughout their life. By definition that means has parts that many wouldn't deem appropriate for a 3 year old. Does that mean it should be removed? Not in my opinion. But, that does not automatically mean we should start teaching it to 3 yr olds either. I'm certainly not the first one in line to burn Harry Potter books or any book for that matter, but I don't see why we need to go out of our way to give kids pornographic/mature type material.
I'd rather teach kids about positive things like peace, love, joy, goodness, kindness, patience, faithfullness, gentleness and self control... then maybe they can learn about sex and violence.
"All this time I wondered what that massive attack campaign that Time Warner had pursued was REALLY all about. Now I know. They were trying to stop SBC from being able to run fiber to the home, and in a sense knocking them out of the internet competition. Bastards."
All the while SBC is trying to stop VOIP from happening, and dragging their feet as much as they can with number portability. SBC is not your friend either. Both sides are positioning themselve to make the most money possible. its capitalism.
"One thing to keep in mind if you decide to offer "free" internet is you're going to get people who campout on their laptops and take up table space for hours at a time"
I personally don't see a problem with this unless you run out of tables. I know I am pretty uneasy if I walk into a restaurant and the place is mostly empty. I figure there must be something wrong with the place. Granted, I don't want to wait for a table while some guy is just camping out.
Some people believe that the rapture will occur either 3.5 years into the "great tribulation" or at the end (7 yrs) of the tribulation period. The viewpoint you spoke of is called the pre-tribulation view, (meaning the rapture is before the tribulation).
Revelation and prophecy are not easy to interpret, and you'll find people persuaded by leaders in ANY religion. They're not all stupid, just ignorant and perhaps naive.
The counterpoint to your argument is that many people want a nice AV system for TV, sports or older movies that aren't at the theater anymore. So they already have the $1000+ equipment. Its a sunk cost.
"But frankly, if you've done your advanced riding courses (yes, I have), you'll know avoidance and observation are your watchwords, and makes pretty much ALL accidents avoidable - just ask the police rider doing the course how many accidents he's had for proof."

"The fact is the "Don't Ask, Dont Tell" policy is in violation of the constitution "
The fact is, the US Supreme Court is hearing arguments regarding this topic today. I'm not sure how you can say that it is a "fact".
Sounds like the same "seperate, but equal" argument to me.
nah, they'll just rename them 4,5 and 6 and call the new ones "prequals"... and everyone will be pissed when they suck.
Read a book?

Here's a copy of a cnn article I evidently made up http://archives.cnn.com/2002/LAW/06/26/pledge.alle giance/
stating that "The 9th Circuit is the most overturned appeals court in the country"
Evidently the statistic is deceiving though. As I understand it now, it's 75% of all the 9th circuit decisions that the supreme court actually reviews are overturned. Not 75% of the total 9th circuit decisions.
I heard a statistic the other day that 75% of all the 9th circuit court's rulings are overturned.
Why even bother?

What I find funny is bigots against religion that complain about the intolerance of christians.
Should we now be teaching kids about sex/violence before we teach them how to read/write?
"And how about Basketball? Not enough action for you? A couple points every 30 seconds seems pretty good to me."
The 3-point shot killed the game. Oh look, yet another 1-pass-and-shoot-a-3-pt play.
I think we should all take the time to sign him up for a free trial AOL CD. Anyone know his cellblock address?
buy a used one. XBMC is awesome.

I'm already starting to fill my water balloons with clorox.
You can't tell me it's idiot proof.

put it in the dishwasher and run it on the top shelf with no detergent. Then let it dry out for a few days. solved many-a-problems that-a way.
Yahoo gave out free ice cream on their 10-yr anniversary. Wake me up when Amazon tops that.
