I've purchased 2 (used) xboxes just so I can run XBMC. I still have never owned (or played) a game on either of them. I'm not sure why MS would ever try to cater to my desires.
XBMC rules, if something similar could run on xbox360 (and could decode HD files), I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I had one of these xx-in-1 kits too, but I never learned what any of it did. I just learned to follow directions... and voila, I had an FM-radio transmitter... or whatever it was.
I learned how things worked when I started taking things apart to "fix" them. (I mostly just destroyed things at first) But if you try to understand what each component is actually doing when you replace it, you learn alot. Or at least I did.
I agree. I would presonnally prefer one module for each purpose. One phone module, one TV module, 1 module for server of video, another for storage/backup. Then upgrades would be much easier than buying another entire system.
I think the key to all this is integration and standardization, so all the modules can communicate. Although, I don't see vendors ever agreeing on 1 standard. Maybe the "integration" is a module in itself, and it can hold the responsibility of integrating.

In general, I've found that people hate to throw stuff away. Believe it or not, some people don't really want a new TV. Repairing it is usually quite a bit cheaper than buying a new one.
Some even try to repair their own TVs.
And for those that just want to get rid of it, we offer to come pick it up and haul it off... Then we fix it, and sell it to someone else. There's a pretty decent Repair/Used-TV market, in my opinion.
As a part time TV repair guy, I'd like to personally thank the Chinese for giving me so much simple-repair business. Bad capacitors are easy to spot (usually) and easy to replace.
we just got a bunch of those induction flashlights at work that are supposed to charge themselves when you shake them... for "safety". Naturally, we disected them the same day we got them, only to find that they are powered by two Lithium batteries.
I suppose shaking them could eventually charge the battery if it ever died... but it still seems like cheating to me.
I personally had an AOL representative refuse to cancel my account. He would only extend me 2 free months. I had to call again and get a different representative to cancel. That was probably 5 years ago by now.
Our local insurance agent (american family) was much cheaper and had much better customer service for both homeowners and auto insurance. So evidently YMMV with USAA. I live in KS.

Yes, I got the voicemail loud and clear. Here's what I heard:
"We don't care about your time, or our business relationship with you. We will quickly spam you to eternity if we think it make us a quick buck."
My response will probably be a quiet one: If you do it again, I'm gone.
FYI, I just got a "voicemail" spamming me about the new IPO. If this kind of crap continues, I'm going to drop them.
I figure there's probably many like me that will behave similarly.

I have all my yahoo ads blocked, and I'm pretty certain this hasn't happened to me. Do I need to share my adblock filters?

I thought it was kind of chicken myself.
Here, I'll record all my opnions, and I don't have to actually face people when they finally hear them.
I should probably point out that he was before my time, so his death is really the only major exposure I have to him.
Paypal has made it easy for me to collect money. They've never wronged me personally. Yet.
Just make sure you discharge the CRT, and then I actually think this is a pretty good idea.
Maybe I'd better include this though
How to discharge a CRT:

I totally agree with MS on this one. Now if Microsoft would just stop all the background craplets themselves... we'd have a finely tuned machine.
Great... and just when I'm starting to get comfortable repairing the 1080i/p models.

Hmm, I guess I was more wondering if it could process 1080i files in mpeg2 format. That sure takes alot of oomph with my mythtv box.
I'm interested to find out what kind of video the AppleTV can play. If it can do 1080i in mpeg2 format, it would be pretty sweet.

ah yes, teach a man to fish... I hope they like saltwater and sushi.
I think every man seeks a purpose...
I suppose some people think their purpose is to discredit another's.

They've certainly invested a lot of money into preventing counterfeit money.
Evidently they are somewhat liable for what they can copy.

Microsoft

I enjoyed your post, but I think these missiles may have been the result of intelligent design.
