  1. Re:A Truly Inconvenient Truth on Cosmic Rays and Global Warming · · Score: 1
This idea was covered in Lomborg's Skeptical Environmentalist. Whilst it seems true that it was a factor in global warming, there is still a very obvious correlation between carbon emissions and global warming since the 1970's. In other words: there is more than one cause of global warming.

BTW, to everybody on this list who dismisses peoples views on the basis that they are "climate change skeptics" - or with the even more emotive (and frankly, offensive) "climate change deniers" - I would like to point out the difference between environmental skeptics (those who think there's nothing wrong) and skeptical environmentalists (those who believe there is, but are skeptical of the proposed solutions and of the motivations behind them).

I recommend people read Lomborg's book. He makes a good case, and does so largely with the same IPCC figures used by other environmentalists (and whatever you say about Bjorn Lomborg, he IS still an environmentalist).

That's not true. C was considered the glue of the Internet... Perl is the gaffa tape.

"This item is only available to our spend-like-no-tomorrow customers, please enter SLNT code now to add to cart, or select an alternative item from the following..."

Ah - but you see, that's where you've got it wrong... They give bigger discounts to home users and penny-pinching small businesses - as these people are generally spending their own money! Quite sensible, really (though I agree it seems absurd to have all prices public)

Why give a discount to somebody who spend like there's no tomorrow (especially when they're spending somebody elses money?)

As a programmer, increased CPU performance means that I churn out lots of quick and dirty code.

Sure, I could spend time making my program more efficient... but why waste a week of my time doing that when the cost of a faster computer is so much cheaper?

  6. It's getting worrying... on Google Eyes Domain Registration Market · · Score: 0

I know that most of us love Google - I'm no exception. But I get worried of any company who starts weilding such power... This is very bad news to all the small hosting companies out there - who are probably worried about what hosting plans Google will be offering next (and it is the next logical step). In a few years, we'll be wiping our ass wiith Google toilet paper! (I wonder if it will have adwords on it?)
