    1) Start Lord Slepnir beverages. I'll need to scrounge around for startup capital, get a factory, distribution, find a way to market it, etc. If I fail, I have to declare bankrupcy, and wind up having my house and car repoed. If I end up making a lot of money off of it, I have about 7 years to grow enough to compete with Coke and Pepsi, who will push their own knockoff of this flavor as soon as the patent runs out.

    2) I contact coke or pepsi and tell them I have a new flavor. They give me a lump of cash, they take all the risk (I'm not ruined if it fails), they market it, and I get a small royality check to live off.

A bit of advice: Leave the covers on, but make sure that you have enough case fans to ensure that the CPU has a constant air current over it. I have the fan on the front of my box blow in and the fan on the back (plus the power supply) blow out. If you leave your case closed, the improved air flow will actually lower the temperature of your CPU and motherboard.

Lets see, it's a $10,000 bribe per congress-person per mistake. Assuming they want to bribe a little over half of congress, that's about 300 bribes, so about 3 million per mistake. Now, we all know that they are losing about 3 billion a year to piracy according to their own numbers, and, by their logic, once we see the error in our ways we'll start buying like we should, so that means that this will get them back that 3 billion. So they only need to make 1000 major mistakes before it becomes economiacally viable for them to do this!

    pretty much every way

The one thing that Microsoft Windows beats back Linux in every time is compatability. Take the rescent Neverwinter Nights fiasco. It took Bioware forever to choose a platform to handle the graphics and even longer to choose one to handle the sound. With Windows, it's DirectX all the way. Also, until I can have an OS install on my computer that is as easy as 'pop in the disk, turn the thing on, choose a few simple options, then sit back and wait until its done', Windows will still have an advantage over Linux in the installer department. I was impressed with the RedHat 9 installer, which was able to find and detect enough of my USB devices on install that I didn't have to break out my PS2 mouse / keyboard, but then again, Windows has been doing that for years (since at least Windows 2k).

Linux does have many advantages over Windows, but to say that Linux and all of its branches are technically superior in pretty much every way is a bit over stepping your bounds there.

Granted, this post will never see the light of day as wave after wave of linux zealots launch a 'He supported MICROS~1 so we have to mod him down' Jihad against me
