    I agree with your second point, but common usage says otherwise. The term copyright theft has a public usage and definition which is different from the legal terms used. You can see examples of it usage in everything from media to the organization fighting for thier IP rights even to the organization fighting the previous groups.

    Copyright infringment is also considered a criminal felony if you profit from it or have a large amount of it. In that case you will be tried by the criminal courts and could face jail time in additional to fines.
    As for calling it theft from lay persons standpoint yes it should be, if this was a legal discussion group then it would be correct to say that it is not. However in the examples that people use to say it is not theft would not legally be called theft but are often examples of embezzelment, fraud, burgerly and other legal terms that the lay public just call theft.

    The flu vaccine given this fall is last season's flu virus. Which is different from the flu virus that will circulate this winter.
    A little off here.
    What happens is that around october of each year the world health organization has a meeting with around 100 counties where they discuss and look over the data collected over the past couple of month of new version of influenza and which ones are spreading. Based on that data they make a recommnendation on what to include and then each country makes up thier own recommendations and add or subtract according to thier own needs.
    So you are getting a mostly upto date version.

    As for effectivness research says that around 40% effetive in elderly and close to 90% in school aged children. Not that bad if you are in thoses categories.

    And the paper given by the FISA judge is a warrant. Enen though given by a FISA judge and under thoses rules it is still a warrant. There have been a couple of legal discussion over if the name warrant should still apply to them as opposed to "court order" but as of now the legal term is still warrant.
    Now if the original post had mentioned that the need for probable cause has been lower and for most cases totally removed and this is only in certain limited cases then that would be the true, but to claim that the US PATRIOT Act removed the need for warrants is false.

    the police didn't need a court order to obtain a warrant and thus seize and search your property.
    There is nothing in the US PATRIOT ACT that that allows this.

    Also there is nothing in the US PATRIOT ACT that allows police to detain citizens for 2 days without charging with a crime. The closing is allowing them to detain non-citizens for action related to a specific crime, terrorism, and that is not for 2 day; and they can request in the warrant that the person be held without communication during that time.

    Not sure who is releasing it, but Will Wright is busy writting his next big game; with a guessimated release of fall of 2006.
    It is called Spores and was shown at last year E3 convention to great fanfare.
    It allows you to evolve your family of spores up to a great space going race, a mixture of civilization and the sims(Well maybe this does prove your original thinking) according to the hype.

    In no sense of the word does the army corp of engineers "own" the levees.
    They are in charge providing maintenance and information to local and state government on the levees. The local and state government provides the largest portion of the funds with some coming from the federal level, they also provide the leadership on what level of protection is acceptable and accepts/rejects recommendation that the corps makes.
    Also the levees that broke were upto levels that had been requested by the local governments.

    Why should local levees of New Orleans be paid for by the federal government? That is as stupid as having the federal government pay for boston's Big Dig. Yea the local governments cry about it but that is a local responsiblity not something the federal government should be paying for.

    In the US no company offers flood insurance, it is all supplied by the federal government. Some companies may help you by doing the paperwork and collecting and forwarding the fees but come collection time they will not be paying out.
    Main reason is flooding is expensive. You look at New Orleans and all thoses flooded but standing houses, most of them will still have to be totally destroied or at least ripped down to thier basic foundations. Mold, mildew, warping and everything else associtated with sitting in water costs alot of money.

    It is the responsibily of hte local and state governments to prepare and plan for theses events. The federal goverment will help out, through FEMA, but only as allowed by the stanford act which requires that they work under the local and state personnel.
    If you want to see how disaster planning should be properly handled look at Texas and what they did and what they are currently doing to solve lousianas problems.

    1) read the 9/11 commision report they mention a few of the ties they had and even mentioned that the al-qaeda was going to be setting up training camps in iraq at one time. This story about al-qaeda and iraq not being friendly is extermly outdated by the the time 9/11 took place.
    2) For the statements to be lie would require that they knew the statements were false when they said them. At the time the confirmed evidence was shown it was from sources both they and other governments had reviewed and accepted. Give me a quote where rumsefield lied.
    3) Iraq was one of the possible people that most people figured did the attacks; even after al-qaeda was identified it would of been smart to make sure that iraq had no hand in it. As for attacking Iraq that was recognized as something that would probably happen to get the results of having saddam follow through with the obligations, or his removal, he aggreed to back in the early 90. Saddam did not want to follow through and bush figured that attack plans should be drawn up so they would be available if needed, this has been back up by various british personnel and papers. It took close to 1 1/2 years between the 9/11 attack and the the joint country reattack on Iraq and during that time there were many times when saddam would fullfill his obligations and the re-attack would not be needed. If they were looking for justification to attack iraq they sure did it a wrong. 4) Most of thoses countries had no interest in upsetting the status quo. They were happy with iraq sealed away out of site of the public and the two sides exchangeing minor attacks on a regular basis. They all believed that iraq had WMD(read UN meeting briefings) but figured iraq could be treated like north korea and over time saddam would die and be replaced with someone who would follow the obliganations of the country.

    The 9th circuit is made up of some of the wackiest judges around, and has the highest reversal rate when brought before the supreme court. Hopefully this will be one of thoses.

    Of course 9/11 pushed Bush forward on remove the stalemate on Iraq. If the 9/11 attacks had not happened shaddam would still be in power kill 10K people a month and no one outside of Britan and the US would of been saying much. The 9/11 attacks basicly said that type of situation should not be continued. That is not the people are talking about when they mention a link between the 9/11 attacks and iraq.
    according to the 9/11 report and numerous other Al Qaeda did have links and support from Iraq specificly Saddam.
    A quick google check find numerious quotes from the "We have never claimed that Saddam Hussein had either direction or control of 9/11." of Rice to "If you're talking specifically about the September 11th attacks, we never made that claim" from the white house spokesman to "We have no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the 11 September attacks" from Bush.
    The not finding of WMD does not prove a falsehood or lie it provies a mistake by intelligence source in the US and most other countries. For the statements to be lie or falsehood would require that they knew that they did not exist when they said them.
    "doesn't read much" did a google search on that and it was printed newspapers. He mainly gets his news from the internet, tv, briefings and sources such as http://ebird.afis.mil/, that is public one but there are similar ones where they take newspaper articles and correct numbers and what the intelleigence agencies have determined.

    If you go read the surveys done of this, you will need to goto a better library or work at a company that subscribes to them, you see that people who belive there was a link were more likly to consider themselves liberal or independent. This belief spiked when the movie farenheit 9/11 was released and then dropped down and then increased again when it was released on DVD and on TV. Soon after the election it dropped down.
    President Bush and administration has been out there multiple times saying there was no direct link. This this not factor into people voting for Bush.

    The governor of the state effect by the disaster is the person in control. They are responsible for asking for federal help and also responsible for how that help will be used.

    FEMA only part of the chain of command is that they are the central point for all federal supplies. FEMA is not in control in the event of an emergency, they only provide supplies and personnel when requested by the governor of the state that is effected.
    The exception to this is if the governor signs forms assigning all control to the federal government, but why would they do htat.

    The IAHA(the company he work for) has already said this is all false. According to them at the time Mike Brown resigned he had recently been given a 3 year contract, in the past they had only given 1 year contracts. He call a meeting of the entire board and announced his decision to resign. The main reason that people think he resign is because of on ongoing set of lawsuits from a person kicked from IAHA over a bunch of problems; now go check the who wrote the original article.

    That is not how the emergency situation is set up in the US.
    It is the responsibility of the local and state governements to setup plans and if they have additional needs at the time of the emergency they can request help from the federal level. The federal level will provide supplies, personnal, or whatever but it is all controlled by the local or state level on how and where it will be used.
    FEMA will do run some exercises and help with inter-state problems, for instance last year or the year before they ran an exercise where they needed room to house people. After a bunch of paperwork and white house getting involved they got agreements over housing such as the Houston Astrodome, which is being used now.
    Lousisian still has over 60% of there national guards around to provide help and have agreements with other states. Also most of lousianas national guards are in bosnia and afganistan.

    If we were 5 years away 5 years ago they would not of been doing the research using federal money, so none of the restritions would of effected them.
    If they were that close to doing human experiment they would of easily gotten money grants from private sources.
    They are no where near doing human experimentation and are not even really that close to doing primate research.

    Part of this was answered by blizzard while WoW was still in beta. They said they did not like having devs or even a central community manager because that would make thoses people the central point of customer focus and they did not like raising people up like that.
    This was kind of changing when I left WoW for greener pastures but have they ever gotten around to appointing a head person in charge of customer relations or is it still a crap shoot?

    This is really simple, it is the money.
    MMORPGs even very poor populated ones can easily enjoy a nice healthy profit.
    With you average game the dev company makes around $15 per box sold, the rest going to store, manufacturer and distributor. With that $15 dollars they have to pay development costs, investors, etc.
    Now take your average MMORPG even with on going costs, something like EQ1 is taking in 1/3 of the monthly fee as profit, so making a guess you can easily say that every 2 months worth of subscriptions a MMORPG is bringing in the same amount of profit that a average stand along game would bringing in. Now with your MMORPGs lasting 5 years plus they are just cash machines.

    That would be system that has a possiblity of being of some use. You would still have to work out rules on which is the official system of record, and when the paper recording would be used.

    However that is not the type of paper system that people are talking about. If you read the orginal post and even the parent of my first post they are all talking about a paper system where the voter gets a slip of paper, like an ATM machine.
