better, yet, why not downsample the album to 8-bit mono, record it to cassette tape, and send it to reviewers...
they cant do much with low quality samples. reviewers rarely care about the sound quality anyways, always harping on lyrics, artistic expression and musical content instead...
if your manager has ZERO creativity and/or ZERO power over how your team does things, then he might choose to tell you to work long hours.
a creative and 'enabled' project manager could think of ways around it so that you dont need to go over 10 hours a day. for example: hire another person or a temp worker!
anytime that a team of workers has to play "catch up" with a development schedule, is a time where the project manager screwed up!!!!!!! come on people! a project manager should take responsibility for not overworking his staff, or he should not go outside of the reasonable expectations that he gave his/her team.
the article was great, but it is just a summary of everything everyone has been saying. i suppose its important to have a summary, but you missed one important idea.
what the music industry is ACTUALLY afraid of is the file-swappers immunity to advertising and marketing. the music industry lost its power over what people listen to. now, file swappers listen to what THEY want to and the whole music industry marketing scheme gets ignored. the music industry can't push artists onto people who choose for themselves what they listen to.
well, if this technology was being used before this company was using it, then i suppose all of us can still use this technology without worrying about being sued, because doesn't the "prior art" argument work here?
ok, if read this article and then look at the evolution of news on the internet, specifically BLOGS (http://blogger.com), you realize how BIG this actually is.
news is evolving to a point where INDIVIDUAL people (like DRUDGE for example) are serving news from their own homes. now... when news sites want to subscribe to articles posted by a famous BLOG newswriter, what patent will hang over this??
thanks... ill look into the Black Dog stuff... i was just trying to make a huge statement. when i listen to the aphex twin stuff, i cant help but think that the guy is genius. i just think that this "Intelligent Techno" shit is going to take the world by storm. Do you agree? It might take another couple years. Its kinda funny because i actually think that the whole Napster/Gnutella thing helped this type of music get more listeners. I wouldnt be surprised if the music industry DID NOT want Richard James to go anywhere. Mabye its no coincidence that Aphex Twin has been around for more than a decade and he becomes much more visible just in the last 2 years.
when my batteries get low and i need to talk to someone, i just plug it into the wall while i talk... it charges and i talk at the same time...
i have your basic motorola startac... its not like i am out of business when my batteries are dead... its not any more inconvenient than a normal telephone used to be... i just look at the batteries as being a luxury to have them at all... the important part is the ability to talk from anywhere.
if they make a copy protected CD, and you paid for it, then you basically agreed to the copy protection. You DO NOT have a right to copy the material in ANY cirumstance. In this case, the buyer agrees to this arrangement by paying for it. if the buyer didnt agree, he/she didnt have to buy the product.
don't forget that part of the reason that people make such a big deal about logging in as root is that Linux geeks have ego. they like to think that since they always SU and SSH, they are "cooler" than the next guy, and so this Root problem gets preached a little more than it should.
on the other hand, the dangers of logging in as root are valid. personally, i log in as root all of the time because there isn't a single thing on my system that i couldn't fix if i needed to. for me, its "cool" to be challenged to fix it, so as far as i am concerned, "bring on the hackers"...
in a production environment, its obvious that perfect paranoia is the only way to go though.:-)
i totally agree. i bought a hitachi cm823 monitor for $550 from Dell, during a sale, and for that price I am in heaven..18-.22 dot pitch, flat screen, two monitor inputs, etc... nothing can even touch it.
i admit, having a monitor without screen refresh would be nice... but ill hold out a little longer.
isn't it obvious that the days of tech workers getting paid are over? we work for free now... because there is too many of us. competition is fierce...
mabye someone should start thinking about developing a technology for picking up trash in orbit... or at least knocking it out of orbit selectively... sounds like well need it...
isn't this a place where an object oriented database would be perfect? think about it. a database is actually a higher level file system layer on top of another file system layer.
LOL... ok... that made me laugh. who cares if it installs spyware anyway? i just run adaware once every few days, and go about my merry business. its not like i am not doing anything illegal myself, in using their software.
its like telling someone that they shouldn't rob banks when you rob 7-elevens for a living... who has the better credibility here?
anyways, when it comes down to it, beer is always good...
well,
im not happy with the GoDaddy service at all. since my domain is by a proxy, I cant ping my domain name to get the ip of my machine.
i guess its my fault for not memorizing my ip address.

its not the answer, but for people who like a basic bandwidth meter for their system, go to the analogx site and get Netstat Live...

one thing that I learned is this (and your lucky i am telling you):
every school has degree programs that they are more proud of, where they try to be among the elite. they put more money into these programs.
if you want to get your moneys worth, major in one of your schools "pride" programs. you'll get more for your money.
dont major in the programs that colleges use to collect money for other programs... they'll take your tuition and spend it on your dorm neighbor.
LOL!
everyones body is different. you should only need to drink as much as it takes for you to start peeing white.
forget the 8 glasses a day thing. listen to your own body talk.
ok.
...
somebody needs to make a public list of all companies supporting the RIAA, and rank them according to "threat level"
once i have that list, then i can wget them all accordingly...

aphex twin will change electronica.
Plaid copied Aphex Twin. Others will follow.
ok... so this is what ive been saying all along... look at my signature line below:

the DMCA has every right to copy protection!
