This guy must be a member of the EU, who are tighting laws regulating forms of "Frankenfood" to all other EU countries. Of course all these laws are based on the way they "feel" and not actual science or facts.

-- Which raises the question (a la Matrix): What good is freedom of speech, if no one is saying anything? --

Not saying something is still free speech.

Because there comes a point when you no longer need to say anything about it because you've been proven wrong. If a movie came out with a pro-terrorist message people wouldn't see it or support it because people know that terrorism is bad and this has be proven a million times.

It's like if I came out and said 1+1 = 1 and started complaining that no one was publishing my work. I have the right to say it, but others have the right not to say it which is just as powerful.

The problem with Egypt is that they only alow this right to a few people instead of all the people.

I disagree. I think maybe netflix has missed the people that don't really use thier computer much. I know a lot of people that have never heard of netflix and are amazed when I tell them about it.
These people also shop at Walmart. If walmart starts to advertise in it's stores for it or on television it should grab plenty of customers.

Plus Walmart has the ablity to do this at it's stores since they are almost everywhere. If a person doesn't have a computer at home walmart could potentally have them sign up at the store and order either through the store or a catalog or something.

"I think I'd agree to this if it were federally mandated that "Basic Cable" be 100% free. Including all the wiring to your house. Wires, wireless, what's the difference?"

That's nuts, and it's against the way the free market works. There is no law saying the everyone is provided a TV. (Which is why almost everyone has one) There should be no law that says everyone should get free broadcast stations. (Which is why their is coverage almost everywhere)

If you are in a rural area that has no broadcast TV stations the government doesn't force ABC to set up a station for you!!

This would only put a strain on the cable companies by discouraging thier growth and forcing them to raise prices.

That's a great idea. Cutting out reducing bandwidth for TV would be a good move. It's still very profitable so you can't eliminate it completely. I don't think we should/would ever eliminat it completly.

Of course I wouldn't do this till there as a strong demand for the bandwidth to be used for something else. Wireless Lan's or Internet maybe?

I don't understand why we get a monthly cable bill at all. Why don't the Cable companies charge the Stations more to carry thier channel? Then everything would be supported by advertising(like the broadcast TV now)

I never thought this before, but sewing companies are a bunch of greedy bastards.

The flaw in this thinking is:

    1. People that watch a lot of porn, do not go out and have sex with a lot of people

    2. People that watch a lot of violence do not go out and kill a bunch of people.

I'd say that in both cases the people would do what they are going to do anyway because they are nuts. Not because they saw it on TV or a video game.

There was sex and violence before any kind of media was developed.
