Wow, that is right on. I've worked with 2 people from india and the same thing happened with them. We would have meetings and design our program and get very little input from them. Even when we made very obvious blunders they would just do what they were told. They were very hard workers, they just didn't seem to like to point out other peoples mistakes.

Seems like both a blessing and a curse.

People are missing another big point. By including WMP in Windows(which they've done forever now) They are letting everone with a computer play a video or mp3 by default, without doing anything. It sets a new standard for OS's in general. I can give my grandmother a video and she can play it without having to: 1. Figure out what software plays a video. 2. Go find software that plays a video. 3. Install software that plays a video. It makes it a lot easier. Not to mention that they have included a version with windows since Windows 3.1!

OR... just pay the 2 bucks, download it and play it on my stereo.

If you are thinking of signing up make sure you read the terms and conditions first. It limits what you can do with the songs quite a bit. Some highlights are:

--You may burn each Purchased Track to a CD up to five times as part of any particular playlist of songs. A "playlist" is a discrete group of Purchased Tracks that are arranged together in a particular order. Once you have burned a Purchased Track to a CD, you agree not to copy, distribute, or transfer the track from that CD to any other media or device. --

    and
---If you are using the version of the Service that is accessible from Microsoft Corporation's Windows Media Player 9 Series, you will only be able to burn or transfer Purchased Tracks using the Windows Media Player. In addition, if you are using the version of the Service that runs in Microsoft Corporation's Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004, certain features that are available in the Service will not be available in the "distance viewing" experience. --

also --You may copy each Download to up to two additional personal computers that you own (i.e. a total of 3 copies). You may not share Downloads with anyone else. Napster automatically renews your rights to all of your Downloads at the beginning of each Subscription Month (as defined below) so long as your subscription remains current. This means that in order to play any Download after the end of a Subscription Month, you must log on to the Service so that Napster can renew your rights for those Tracks. The Client will count the number of times that you play a Download, including while you are offline, for royalty accounting and analysis purposes. --

I guess that's what all that Digial Right's Management stuff is in WiMP 9.

Anyone know what "distance viewing" is?

The FCC shouldn't regulate how large a company can get or what content they can put out. They should be technical only. They should make sure that company A's airwaves don't interfere with company B's and that's it.

The judge should have asked why they didn't file this complaint years ago? Now to ask every single software company fork over millions of dollars in unreasonable.

The judge should have said that it's too late. It's not like Microsoft tried to hide that it was using plugins. It's been in there for years. Everyone knew about it the plugins. No one knew about the patent.

    Same goes for the SCO....

On another note, why can't big companies get better lawyers? What's up with companies losing really stupid lawsuits all the time?

Example: sell 100 cds at $10 profit each = $1000 profit
    sell 200 cds at $7 profit each = $1400

So if the IBM distributed code to users without a license to do so(and this is a big if), how can the SCO demand a 1000 bucks from the linux users. Wouldn't they only be able to get the money from IBM?

I always get to choose who I do business with, the government just takes the money, as much as it wants, and has no motivation for doing using it wisely.

Anyway I think having the government police spam will do nothing but increase our taxes. This will make the people that don't give a crap about spam pay to remove it.
